The rise of fast fashion has contributed to unsafe working conditions, unfair wages, and a decline in high-quality goods produced in the United States. As we close out #NYFW, I’m proud to lead the FABRIC Act with @SenGillibrand to strengthen protections for garment workers and revitalize the US fashion industry with historic investments in domestic manufacturing.

Yesterday, ICE agents shot a New Yorker inside his car, next to his 5-year-old son. This out–of–control agency must be stopped before causing more irreparable harm to our neighborhoods and communities.
I am demanding a full, independent investigation to hold the officers involved accountable for their actions in yesterday’s shooting.
There is no place for violence in our communities, especially by the hands of unqualified, ill-prepared federal agents. ICE operations must pause across New York until the agency is adequately reined in.

Government officials must be accountable to the people they serve. In 2001, and for 30 years since, I represented Ground Zero and led local leaders ringing alarm bells about these environmental hazards. We now know that officials like Giuliani intentionally ignored our claims and lied to New Yorkers about the dangers they were facing. The mishandling of these cleanup efforts exposed thousands of New Yorkers and rescue workers to toxins that are still impacting their health.

Three years ago today, the Jewish people experienced the deadliest day in our history since the Holocaust.
We remember the more than 1,200 innocent people murdered by Hamas and Islamic Jihad. We remember every life stolen and every family shattered. We remember the victims of unimaginable brutality.
Three years later, we also reflect on the subsequent war and ensuing damages and devastation. We mourn the loss of innocent lives in Gaza and the profound suffering endured by the civilian population.
We mourn. We remember. And we recommit ourselves to building a future in which Israelis and Palestinians can live in security, freedom, and peace.
October 7th will always be a day of mourning and sadness. May we honor the memory of those who were lost by heeding the words of Psalm 34: “Seek peace and pursue it.”
Never before have the Good Guys been the ones banning books or threatening funding for public libraries & schools over the inclusion of LGBTQI+ stories.
We’ll never stop fighting against government censorship! #BannedBooksWeek
Project 2025 is alive and well. This proposal is an attempt to advance Trump and Duffy's disturbing and dystopian dream of forcing women to marry and have more babies.
Tying mass transit and rail infrastructure grants to marriage and birth rates is holding necessary public programs hostage to further dangerous right-wing ideology.

Andy Byford's op-ed is a work of fiction. The truth is that the MTA is standing strong against Trump’s attempted takeover of Penn Station, which could destroy local zoning authorities and force NY residents and MTA riders to foot the bill.
Additionally, the congressional amendment that Byford is cheering for would give Trump and his allies wide-reaching authority over this project, which could destroy local zoning authorities and cost NY residents and MTA riders an unknown amount. It also amends a bad bill which would cut transit funding to New York. As the representative of Penn Station, I am proud to have voted against this amendment and bill. I will continue fighting for transparency, accountability, and oversight of this project so we can deliver a renovated Penn Station that will actually benefit New Yorkers.

ICE has no place using our courtrooms as bait to arrest individuals who are going through their immigration proceedings. Immigrants must be allowed to move through their legal proceedings without fear and unnecessary obstruction. I am glad to see this court ruling to uphold justice for immigrants in New York.

For over two decades, I have been proud to secure robust funding in the appropriations process for HOPWA, the critical program that helps people living with HIV/AIDS have the safe housing and stability they need. Now, the Trump administration is illegally delaying the release of funding that Congress previously authorized for HOPWA. I led my colleagues in the House and Senate in calling on the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to immediately release these funds.

The Trump administration and other bad actors want to confuse voters to suppress our voices. We cannot let that happen. Here are the facts: Every registered voter in New York has the right to vote by mail. It is safe, legal, and easy. On this day in 2017, the shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas took the lives of 60 people in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history. We hold the entire community in our hearts and continue our work to #EndGunViolence in their honor.
The allegations of sexual assault at Cornell University are deeply horrifying. I commend this young woman for her courage in seeking justice, and I fully support the district attorney’s decision to reopen the criminal investigation.
But the victims of heinous crimes should not be forced to fight an uphill battle for justice while they work to heal from the trauma inflicted upon them. This case, and far too many like it, are the product of a culture of violence against women and systems that silence survivors at college campuses across our country.
There must be a full and independent investigation into the alleged crimes and the role of the authorities who managed this case from the very beginning. Moreover, each and every one of us has a role in preventing violence against women by confronting wrongdoing and standing with survivors.
For the past 50 years, the #HydeAmendment has left 8 million women on Medicaid without abortion coverage & stripped their freedom to access abortion care nationwide. I'm proud to join over 200 Democrats co-sponsoring the #EACHAct to end Hyde & ensure women can access the healthcare they need.

Thanks to years of hard work by construction crews, engineers, and project managers, the first boring machine for the Hudson Tunnel has launched!
After years of advocating for and securing funding for this project, I am grateful to our federal, state, and local partners for keeping construction moving, and I look forward to this transformative project delivering the reliable, resilient, modern rail infrastructure that our riders deserve.

I welcome this first-ever municipal plan to combat antisemitism. There is much in this whole-of-government plan that I believe will help keep Jewish New Yorkers safe and will help ensure that the Jewish community remains a defining and integral part of the DNA of New York City. I continue to be committed to ensuring Jews in New York not only survive, but thrive. The plan announced today is an important step in that effort, and I look forward to continuing to work with the Mayor's office on these critical issues.
Our duty to serve the 9/11 community of victims and survivors extends far beyond the anniversary of September 11. Today I was honored to speak at the World Trade Center Environmental Health Center Symposium to support the clinical providers, researchers, and community advocates who care for victims of 9/11 health-related illnesses.
I am proud to have passed the James Zadroga 9/11 Bill in 2010, which created the World Trade Center Health Program, and I urge fellow lawmakers to continue investing in the cutting-edge research around these 9/11 related diseases, spreading awareness of resources available to those who are still getting sick from these illnesses, and ensuring every victim can access the medical care they deserve.
$4 trillion+ added to the deficit for tax cuts for billionaires and corporations. $150 billion more for DOD. Billions spent on the war in Iran. But the Major Richard Star Act, the number one veteran priority, remains stalled in the House due to Republican inaction.
The Trump administration is dedicating the full force of the executive branch to persecuting our most vulnerable communities, especially our LGBTQIA neighbors. This cruel action will weaken American schools and undermine all students' abilities to learn in a safe and healthy environment.
The Education Department will scrap Biden-era Title IX rules that sought to bolster nondiscrimination protections based on sexual orientation and gender identity, officials announced, marking a return to rules from the first Trump administration. https://t.co/XSMUC2FzZr
