Remarkable how little political noise it's made here in the U.S. that a major American naval base in Bahrain was basically destroyed, and that this was kept quiet for five months https://t.co/4I9mLlhDeX
There is so much I see in the world that is so stupid. This might rise to the top of the list.
And when these people who think this is a good idea get their wages cut because their company can’t afford to pay what they used to, I know how that will go.
Wife of US Service Member on Lincoln reacts to Trump’s statement: I don't think the man thinks before he talks. Take some accountability for what's going on with your military, your ships, and your war.
We heard Hegseth and the president essentially saying that families are lying and service members are lying, even though the proof is right here on my phone.
It's infuriating that they're not taking accountability and not having any sort of sympathy for our service members that they they claim that they support when it's politically, you know, sound for them—until our troops need support. And now suddenly everyone's lying.
I so badly would love to plaster my face and blow the whistle so loud on social media with my name and be like, this is real. But unfortunately, I have to protect my husband's career
“These companies are running sportsbooks without licenses and betting that a new label will put them above the law. Baltimore will not let multibillion-dollar companies put profits over people and harm our communities through illegal gambling." - @MayorBMScott 👏👏👏
Local officials across the country are fed up with prediction markets railroading over diligently legislated, voter-approved state laws on sports betting.
The law is clear. Sports betting is a state issue. Tell the CFTC to butt out!
Trump Socialists have seized ownership stakes in 30 companies. And yes. This is one of many precedents a future left-wing leader could use to justify a government takeover of private companies. The threat of socialism is real, and it’s coming from inside the Trump White House.
The Republican president keeps taking a government stake in private companies, now up to 30 firms. As the Cato Institute observes, the U.S. government taking an ownership stake in private companies is now routine, and a Republican-controlled House and Senate are ready to make it official federal policy under law, not just some rogue administration’s actions.
Zohran Mamdani wants to “seize the means of production”; today’s Republicans want to establish a federal ownership stake in the means of production. A future President Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or some other progressive Democrat will appreciate Trump-era Republicans establishing the precedent and the legitimacy of the federal government strong-arming many kinds of companies into giving them ownership shares.
It's amazing to me how many people bought this *totally obvious* scam.
It never, ever, was going to succeed, and I sincerely doubt it was intended to.

Definition of socialism from Merriam Webster:
any of various egalitarian economic and political theories or movements advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods
Trump Socialism Scheme spreads as Republicans seize control of 7 more private companies. This is the policy that poisoned pre-Thatcher Britain. That Republicans keep spreading socialism across tech sector businesses is deeply disturbing. So too are their record deficits and debt.

Zero consumer protection. Zero guardrails. Zero contributions to local communities. Prediction markets criticize offshore sportsbooks but operate the same way.
We filed our comment on the CFTC prediction markets rulemaking. Gambling and investing are not the same activity, and federal financial regulation should not be used to blur the distinction. Here's why sports event contracts are contrary to the public interest.🧵
Here's former US Sen. Chris Dodd (of the Dodd-Frank Act) on the CFTC's proposed prediction market rules. He's not a fan:
"We did not amend the Commodity Exchange Act to override the established system for states to develop their own policies and laws regulating gaming."
