BREAKING: In a stunning and deeply alarming move, the Postmaster General has announced that the USPS will REFUSE to deliver mail-in ballots for the 2026 midterm elections to any state that does not comply with Donald Trump’s so-called “election integrity” executive order.

Let that sink in.

This is a direct attack on voting rights and a blatant attempt to strong-arm states into submission by threatening Americans’ access to the ballot box.

The Postal Service….an institution meant to serve EVERYONE—is now being weaponized to influence elections.
Democracy is not optional. Voting is not conditional. And no president gets to decide who can and cannot participate in our elections.

Sowing doubt about election results, I fear, is preparation for attempting to undo the loss Republicans will suffer in the midterms. We must remain vigilant in recognizing his lies and in protecting our democracy.

Congressman John Lewis was an outstanding man who fought for his beloved community and equality for all Americans. We were allies and I was pleased to be able to speak with him often during our time in the House together. We fought for healthcare together, particularly the Affordable Care Act. I was honored when he chose to cosponsor my impeachment articles against Trump during his first term. It was one of the very few bills he sponsored.

If we had passed the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, the Supreme Court would not have been able to make the CALLAIS decision, allowing Memphis to be split into three districts. The 9th District of TN, or central Memphis, which I currently serve and which was served by Congressman Ford Junior and Senior before me, will probably never be served by another.

I previously wrote Treasury Secretary Bessent protesting putting President Trump’s face on the $1 coin because it is a violation of law for a living president to be featured on money. Secretary Bessent said coinage is not the same as currency. But now Trump is adding his signature to the $100 bill.

Trump is planning for chaos, not for a smooth transition of power. He will try to influence the outcome of the next election, and whether it’s him or somebody else he has chosen, he will use the National Guard to impose his rule on any protests or demonstrations.
