Scientists @rescueareef @CoralReefFuture moved 30 genetically distinct elkhorn corals from offshore nurseries near Virginia Key, Florida into temperature controlled land-based tanks.These corals represent some of the last remaining genetic lines from wild Florida populations.

Delaney McEvoy, our Senior Canon Coral Conservation Fellow, honed her skills in underwater photography and editing last summer. This summer, she hosted a workshop to teach the new fellows the basics of color grading for underwater videography!

The UM Scuba Club joined Rescue a Reef from the Rosenstiel School for a coral restoration dive in Key Biscayne, helping outplant corals grown on coral trees and supporting the University’s work in reef recovery, coastal protection, and climate resiliency.

Last week, our team participated in the 2025 International Coastal Cleanup Event! 🚮🌍

With the help of citizen scientists, we removed 200lbs of trash from the mangrove shoreline—contributing to Miami's 25,000+ lbs collected!
