RR makes a major prediction - @ABDanielleSmith will become the 5th premier to lose office as a result of fighting the native empowerment movement (YK NB Man) as their win streak closes in on #400 on the road to resources - bad news for Alberta!

@ABDanielleSmith has turned toxic on the native file
1 attempt to stymie judge
2 legal losses on treaty rights
3 Chief Justices in public rebuke
pipeline MoU seriously undermined
natives closing in on 400 legal wins
AB worst on reconciliation!
.@MainsteaMedia my home town (Bathurst)
uncle D Hartigan already behind enemy lines at Melville battery - dad R Gallagher arrives in 5 days time with 403 fighter wing RCAF - there's the Museum of Regiments in Calgary - features D-Day
RR says @ABDanielleSmith should visit it
Premier Smith asked about Treaty 8 Grand Chief Trevor Mercredi saying they could engage in civil disobedience to stop a referendum.
Smith says the Critical Infrastructure Act can be used against anyone who blocks projects, but hopes it doesn't come to that.
Adds the referendum doesn't require a duty to consult.
.@MainstreaMedia native legal win streak closes in on #400 on the road to resources
Alberta native leaders throwing down the gauntlet re the referendum on the road to resources
RR says going to be hard to raise investment on the road to resources
Road to Resources (Get-it?)
.@MainstreaMedia that didn't take long
G&M appears to endorse RR's predictions as to pipeline routes - 24 hrs later & 398 legal win mark
Distrust of war room politicos looms large - that end run on recent native referendum court wins seals the deal!

.@MainstreaMedia more on #398
[80] .... the impact on the species”, it is not the court’s job to craft coherent reasons for administrative decisions. That is the Minister’s job, and the reasons here fall below the standard of justification required on reasonableness review.
.@MainstreaMedia native legal win #398
proposed nuclear disposal siting in Renfrew co
Species at Risk analysis - court says Minister did not properly comply with legislative steps requiring its justification / decision making - back to the drawing board
https://t.co/I2n9gNYIWY
.@MainstreaMedia - RR prediction (see map)
RR predicts none of these routes are going to happen for bitumen pipeline - although there's a chance for one by tripling the TMX route - big qualifier - will cost upward of $100B - native empowerment decides the outcome / then the cost
Excellent CBC story about possible pipeline routes.
What strikes me is the brazen disregard for the NW BC tanker ban.
Then again, why not? Chutzpa got Smith this far, why stop now?
Carney keeps backpedaling and compromising.

.@MainstreaMedia native legal win #398 (FCA)
repeat win blocking disposal of nuclear waste - this one appellate level: D2C + Species at Risk - both federal jurisdiction lapses - RR says native legal win streak is peaking while country fixates on western separation
Federal Court of Appeal sides with Kebaowek First Nation that has been fighting the approval of a proposed nuclear waste dump at Chalk River.

.@Mainstreammedia another RR prediction comes true
NB showing leadership on legal evolution of AT
RR predicted Drapeau J analysis would likely prevail months ago - btw - cautioned NB Chiefs (keynote) on this point 3 yrs ago in Moncton - place still cross-piled with landclaims!
Justice Minister Sean Fraser tells me the Supreme Court’s decision not to hear the Wolastoqey case may have an impact on the Cowichan case in B.C. and other Indigenous title claims across the country when it comes to private property. Tune in to @CityNewsVAN 24/7 for more

Bad timing / Bad news
Exxon - already downsizing in Alberta - looks to reenter Venezuela heavy crude - tidewater - refineries
RR says for every $B spent there- means a $B not spent here - so referendumb away folks!
https://t.co/LYJVjqVjXF
.@ABDanielleSmith perfect timing for a pipeline
you've decided it's perfect timing for a separation crisis can't have both - no private proponent will commit to a pipeline - not with every FN opposed - you've embarked on the wrong strategy - you're also offside the Clarity Act
The need for more pipelines has never been greater, we need them in all directions, to all coasts.
BUT the biggest impact we can have is by building a million-barrel-per-day pipeline to Canada's west coast. This pipeline can bring economic prosperity to all of Canada.
The time to build is now!

.@ABDanielleSmith@jengerson ACFN 100% correct
RR (fr AB lawyer) (fr treaty negotiator)
(fr oil patch regulator) (fr pipeline strategist) says:
ACFN win is #397 on road to resources - shutting down Q1 & likely Q2 No compromise in the cards without involving Treaty natives
.@ABDanielleSmith@jengerson RR says proposed referendum Q is not compliant with the Clarity Act.
I've written about this in my 1st book re Quebec Secession / JB Cree / context of native consultation
Might be new to you but not to native rights experts
You're out of order!
.@ABDanielleSmith
Video is 100% accurate in terms of what the court ruled
Trying to skirt Treaty D2C via a referendum on whether to have a referendum is pretzel logic that will 100% backfire on UCP fair-weather separatists
RR says Clarity Act / Treaty rights / will be upheld
Here’s a video about why Danielle Smiths rewording of things doesn’t change the outcome of the Alberta courts ruling. You can’t ignore constitutional obligations! If the process could lead to separation then Alberta government has a duty to consult First Nations!
.@Mainstreamedia important video loop
RR been saying since forever - it's native empowerment that determines major resource project outcomes - on west coast pipelines even more so - now closing in on 400 legal wins - Premier Smith's rhetoric is their biggest helper at the moment
.@DanielleSmith RR says due to the premiers strategic stupidity the phrases: separation referendum - judicial appeal - native rights - investor uncertainty - can all now appear in the same sentence.
An inexcusable outcome for a leader that blames investor uncertainly on Ottawa!
If a separatist group wants to fight this in court, they can pay for their own appeal. It is not the responsibility of Alberta taxpayers to subsidize a political project the government claims it does not even support.
https://t.co/vVQJpxwi88
.@MainstreaMedia this is 100% accurate commentary
entire dynamic is governed by the Clarity Act / Treaties no one should be commenting without having read both
RR says natives will hit 400 legal wins this year (397)
Biggest underreported business story of the decade
For a quarter of a century there has been the duty to negotiate with First Nations if a province Wanted to separate.
Some treaty and constitutional lawyers said that wasn’t important and continued on
Now we’re here and everyone is mad the inevitable would happen. 🧵
