Inspired by this action [2nd June, 1975] and in reclaiming derogatory terms of that period “whore” against women as s*x w*rkers, s*x w*rkers all over the world started organizing, giving rise to the modern-day s*x w*rkers rights movement.

"Whore" is a term that s*x w*rkers have reclaimed diligently and no longer is the term a slur [when used amongst the community].

☂️ International Whores Day - 2nd June ☂️

It started with a protest...

In 1975, over 100 s*x w*rkers and allies began an 8-day occupation at the Saint-Nizier Church in Lyon, France. The demonstration was in response to fines, stigma and police harassment; including the imprisonment of ten s*x w*rkers just days prior.

The action was widely reported on and, despite the protestors eventual removal by police, made a profound impact.

June 2nd has since become recognised as the beginning of the modern s*x w*rker rights movement. Every year, International Whores Day is celebrated with protests and events across the world.

Respect Inc is seeking a Social Media & Content Creator.

The job: This role is responsible for Respect Inc’s social media presence including creating engaging and accurate content, responding to engagement, understanding analytics, and implementing the organisation’s social media strategy and campaigns within a s*x w*rk rights framework, informed by the Respect Inc aims and objectives, policies and procedures.

The hours: Permanent part time, 10 hours per week.

The pay: Social Community Home Care and Disability Services (SCHCADS) Industry Award 2010 Level 4.1 or 5.1 (depending on experience and skills) $44.58-$51.00 per hour plus 12% superannuation, above Award leave and salary packaging available.
