Fishbowl π APRIL 2026!!!!!
Excited for all of you to dip your feet and hearts into the little world of Fishbowl where slice of life meets surreal. So happy to share that Fishbowl is going to be out on Steam & PS5 in April 2026. WISHLIST, SHARE, TELL YOUR MOM, TELL YOUR FRIENDS!
Was lucky to catch Totto-Chan: The Little Girl at the Window on a flight recently. A film is based on a book by the same tittle, one of my favourite books. The film did not disappoint and did justice to the moving and powerful moments in the book.
The Imaginary probably has one of the strongest concepts when it comes to an animated film, but like Mary and the Witch's Flower, I wish both films did more to draw viewers in emotionally to the characters, with subtle, small moments which tell us more and make us care deeply.
Josee, the tiger and the fish, a very cute, touching film, inspires to keep following your dreams. Was a little bit annoyed at Josee in the end though.
Finally watched the animated movie based on one of my favourite mangas of all time, Children of the Sea. What a masterpiece. Exceeded all expectations that the manga sets exponentially high, already. I could watch this film over and over and still have more to learn from it.
The Heiki Story is an animated, poetic masterpiece. I'm so grateful I could experience this work of great empathy, grief and strength told via the downfall of a once flourishing clan. My appreciation for Naoko Yamada and team knows no bounds.
I wanted to watch the entire directorial body of work of Naoko Yamada and it turns out I have pretty much watched EVERYTHING directed by her.
My favourites being Sound Euphonium
Liz and the Blue Bird (masterpiece!)
And of course A Silent Voice
Next up The Heike Story π
Last one is Belle, which almost felt like an extended vison of Summer Wars. A beautiful movie. And that ends the Mamoru Hosoda catalog for now, looking forward to what comes next from Studio Chizu βΊοΈ
Late update but next up was Mirai which wasn't my favourite. There were some wonderfully crafted moments, but as a whole, I didn't love it as much as the previous two.
I really appreciate The Boy and The Beast π Been noticing this one particular Mamoru Hosoda cloud in all his films so far. I wonder if it will continue to show up in the rest and if it's some sort of a lucky charm π
