A great game against a very talented and youthful opposition. This team continues to show tremendous character and resilience, always driving each other forward. I am immensely proud of what this group has achieved throughout the season and gives us a great platform to build on
Faversham U23s signed off the season in style with a thrilling 4-1 victory over an in-form Sheppey United side at the Aquatherm on the final night of the campaign.
Manager's @RhysLeader4 report: The young Lilywhites were slow to get out of the blocks in the opening stages and initially looked set up to play on the counterattack. Despite Sheppey enjoying much of the early possession, Faversham showed promising signs in the first ten minutes whenever they managed to break forward with pace and intent.
The deadlock was broken after 15 minutes when Alfie Brown rose highest at the back post to convert a towering header and give Faversham the lead. The goal completely changed the complexion of the game and sparked Sheppey into life, with the visitors piling huge pressure onto the Faversham goal for the remainder of the first half.
Goalkeeper Reece Beazleigh proved to be the standout performer during this spell, producing a string of stunning saves to keep his side in front for as long as possible. However, Sheppey’s relentless pressure eventually paid off as they found an equaliser before the break, leaving Faversham fortunate to head into half-time level at 1-1.
A big talking-to at the interval clearly had the desired effect as Faversham emerged for the second half looking like a completely different side. Changing their approach, the hosts became more organised defensively while also beginning to dominate possession and dictate the tempo of the game.
It truly was a game of two halves.
Faversham controlled proceedings after the restart and could easily have added even more to their tally with the number of chances they created.
Their attacking play was sharp, direct and clinical, and they eventually found the back of the net three more times through Ralph Fox, Taylor Agrabeit and Corone Scott.
The young Lilywhites looked full of confidence throughout the second half and capped off a superb team performance with a deserved 4-1 victory against a very good Sheppey United side.
It was the perfect way to end what has been a fantastic season for Faversham U23s. The squad has grown tremendously in confidence and development throughout the campaign, and there is plenty of excitement about what next season could bring for this talented young side.
That’s win was dedicated to our number one fan Graham Arnold who managed to make it back last night after missing many games due to illness 🤍🖤🦁🦁🦁
Faversham U23s Edge @DealTownFC in 7-Goal Thriller
Faversham U23s secured a dramatic 4–3 victory over Deal in an action-packed encounter, showing resilience and character to claim all three points.
Faversham started slowly and struggled to find their rhythm early on. Despite this, they took the lead against the run of play when captain Teddy Isaac calmly slotted home from the penalty spot.
However, the young side continued to labour, failing to compete for first and second balls, and Deal capitalised to bring the game level at 1–1 heading into half-time.
After a strong run of form, some stern words were delivered at the break—and the response was outstanding.
Faversham came out with renewed intensity and purpose, showing real character and fight. But in a twist of déjà vu, it was Deal who struck next, once again against the run of play.
This time, though, Faversham refused to be denied. Harry Green fired home to bring them back into the contest before substitute Boz Kehayov made an instant impact, putting Faversham into the driving seat at 3–2.
The drama was far from over. Despite Faversham throwing bodies on the line, Deal found a way back once more, equalising to make it 3–3 with 15 minutes remaining.
Straight from the restart, however, came a moment of brilliance. Spotting the goalkeeper off his line, Kehayov unleashed a stunning long-range effort to restore Faversham’s lead in spectacular fashion.
Faversham held firm in the closing stages to secure a memorable win in a thrilling contest. ⚪️⚫️🦁🦁🦁
The club wishes Deal all the best for the remainder of the season.
