After 36 years behind bars, Michael was released from an Oklahoma prison. In late April, Prison Fellowship volunteer James picked him up at the gate.
James recorded this emotional uncut footage of Michael, who tearfully dropped to his knees and gave God all the glory. Since Michael had no family around, James helped him find housing and other essentials for a fresh start.
James says that day was "one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever experienced; he is on fire! I’m proud to call this man my dear friend. This story here, I can’t wait to hear. God has His hands on Michael after 36 years in prison. Praise God for second chances!"
We are so thankful for our passionate volunteers! Please be in prayer for Michael as he begins his second chance journey.

Hear from Prison Fellowship President and CEO @RiceMinus on the recent presidential message on Second Chance Month:
“This presidential message reflects an important national conversation that restoration should be within reach for those who have completed their sentences. We are grateful to see the White House amplify the need for second chances. Our faith reminds us that every person is made in the image of God with inherent value. When individuals fulfill their legal obligations and are given an opportunity to rebuild their lives, communities across the country become safer and stronger.”

"If a ministry can stay faithful to its calling for 50 years, it’s a sign that God’s hand is on it."
John Stonestreet, President of the @ColsonCenter, reflects on the legacy of our late founder Chuck Colson and the mission that launched Prison Fellowship.
Chuck Colson believed the Church should not run away from brokenness—but run toward it with hope and truth. That vision has shaped Prison Fellowship for five decades and continues to guide its work today.
We encourage you to check out the Colson Fellows Program, a 10-month journey of Christian worldview formation through the Colson Center. Applications are open now!

"[There are] 1.5 million kids with a mom or dad in prison. They are doing time right along with that parent, and they often feel loneliness, shame, and stigma. Not today," says Prison Fellowship President and CEO @RiceMinus.
Recently in Atlanta, Prison Fellowship Angel Tree served hundreds of kids at a sports camp where they heard powerful messages of overcoming from Brandon Johnson and Terri Matthews Woodall. The gymnasium suddenly got quiet as Terri spoke truth: “You are seen by God and loved by Him. You are not an accident.”
Angel Tree relies on church partners to reach 275,000+ children of prisoners annually. Please consider registering your church here: https://t.co/H58S6T9un7

Most people never step inside a prison. But what if some of the most compelling stories of change in America are happening there?
In this episode of Going Big!, host Kevin Gentry interviews @RiceMinus, President and CEO of @prisonfellowshp, about what she has seen in prisons across the country and why she believes hope can grow in the hardest places.
The conversation traces the origins of Prison Fellowship through the story of Chuck Colson, whose conversion and time in prison helped spark a movement that now serves incarcerated men and women, supports families, and partners with churches nationwide.
Heather shares vivid, personal stories from inside prison walls, including a woman known as “Turtle” who is serving a life sentence yet has become a leader and mentor to others. She also challenges the “us vs. them” mindset and explains why defining people by the worst thing they’ve ever done can block real restoration.
The episode also explores the scale of incarceration in the United States, the impact on children and families, and the growing focus on second chances through community engagement and practical next steps.
Heather closes with a quote from Colson that captures the theme of the conversation: “My greatest humiliation being sent to prison was actually the beginning of God’s greatest use in my life.”
Can prison be the place for a #secondchance?
In this thought-provoking interview between @RiceMinus, President and CEO of @prisonfellowshp, and Mark Batterson, pastor of National Community Church in Washington, D.C., the truth of God’s grace and mercy shines bright even behind bars. They discuss the value of #secondchances and much more.
