Lovely article - Swahili is such a rich, satisfying language to learn and use. The problem is finding Swahili-speakers who don’t already speak good English!
Could confirming King Charles’ visit to the US be a smart move on the part of the UK? Could it help exert good sense leverage over Trump? Very bad look if the Iran war is ongoing when Charles arrives.
The attacks on Iran by Israel and the United States are illegal, unprovoked and unjustifiable.
Peace and diplomacy was possible. Instead, Israel and the United States chose war.
This is the behaviour of rogue states — and they have jeopardised the safety of humankind around the world with this catastrophic act of aggression.
Our government must condemn this flagrant breach of international law, and urgently pursue a foreign policy based on justice, sovereignty and peace.
A truly harrowing, stunning performance. A lot of tears shed by a rapt audience. Highly prescient to our current times.
Compelling work. Great acting. Great Director.
Try to see this wonderful performance of All My Sons by Arthur Miller (1946) at the #Wyndham Theatre.
🚨BREAKING: Parliament is going to debate the petition Calling for a public inquiry into Russian influence on UK politics & democracy on 9 February.
This is why it’s so important👇
Hey @Keir_Starmer - British-made military equipment has been found on Sudan battlefields, used by a genocidal militia. That same militia is committing atrocities in El Fasher right now. Stop selling arms that could kill children! https://t.co/XPrDI30YQE
My article in the Guardian:
Disappearing people, disappearing morals – how two years has changed Gaza and Israel | Orly Noy | The Guardian https://t.co/1JcKfimUZh
I'm Jewish
So I'm apalled by the senseless murders of two Jews in Manchester
But I'm equally apalled, each time I hear that two people have been senselessly murdered in Gaza, Ukraine, or anywhere else
Why should I feel any different?
We're all members of the same human family
The people protesting, many of them Jewish, are protesting against Starmer and the UK’s arming of Israel, a foreign government. They are not protesting against British Jews. It is Starmer here who is conflating British Jews with Israel - and doing the antisemites’ work for them.
I urge anyone thinking about protesting this weekend to recognise and respect the grief of British Jews.
This is a moment of mourning. It is not a time to stoke tension and cause further pain. It is a time to stand together.
We are a country that welcomes all people, no matter their faith, to stand under the same flag as neighbours and friends.
That is who we are and who we will always be. Hatred and violence will never win.
@Naomi4LabNEC Really great to hear you on BBC Any Answers, speaking for millions I’m sure. The conflation issue can’t be exposed enough. Thank you 🙏 👏👏
💯 Suggesting that you can make traumatised Jewish people feel better by stopping solidarity with traumatised Palestinian people is not just insulting and pathetic - it's downright antisemitic and will exacerbate hostility towards Jews.
EXPLAINER: @HindRFoundation Chairman Dyab @Aboujahjah outlines why #Belgium 🇧🇪 arresting two Israeli soldiers at the @Tomorrowland festival over Gaza war crimes is a landmark moment for universal jurisdiction.
The arrests followed an urgent legal complaint by the HRF and @GLAN_LAW. Our resolve is stronger than ever.
‼️We are ready—with evidence, legal teams, and a global network—to challenge Israeli impunity.
