Akshata and I are pleased to support a new @richmondproj partnership with @BookmarkCharity to get thousands of number-themed children’s books into primary schools across the country.
We kicked off with Reception and Year 1 pupils in Lewisham - and their reaction said it all.
One of the clearest messages in Number Nation is that parents want to help their children with numbers, and many are already trying.
But a significant chunk don’t feel confident when it comes to maths homework.
Are you one of them?
Women are being left behind on number confidence in the UK.
32% of women say they’re not confident with everyday numbers, compared with 18% of men.
That gap shows up in bills, budgets, discounts, interest rates and homework. This is what The Richmond Project exists to change.
Two brilliant organisations. One shared mission.
Following our Number Nation research, we’re announcing £588,000 in grants, backing @RethinkMaths and @learnwparents to build number confidence early in nurseries and at home.
This is just the start.
'It's all about unlocking opportunity'
Former PM Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty spoke to #BBCBreakfast about donating nearly £600,000 to two charities - to develop confidence in maths - among young children and their families

NEW: We’ve just published Number Nation - the UK’s largest ever survey into attitudes to everyday numbers.
And the findings are too important to ignore.

Patterns are how our brains make sense of the world.
In numbers, a pattern might be 2, 4, 6, 8…
In real life, it’s the tiles on your floor, the railings on a bridge, the order you make your tea every morning.
Where do you spot patterns in your day?
Yesterday was Fibonacci Day, celebrating one of the most famous number patterns.
You see it in pine cones, sunflowers, shells, and even in how we design and plan things without realising it.
Can you spot a Fibonacci pattern in real life this week?
It’s Maths Week England! 🎉
To celebrate, we spent time at MathsWorld, exploring how numbers connect everything from puzzles and patterns to engineering, music, movement and design.
We’re delighted to be supporting initiatives like these here at The Richmond Project.
“You can change policy, but if you don’t change culture, you won’t move the needle.” - @RishiSunak on the new @MoneyWeek podcast 👏
Talks investing and how The Richmond Project is building confidence with numbers at every age 👇
We are excited to launch our #podcast, MoneyWeek Talks, with an interview with @RishiSunak.
Him and MoneyWeek's digital editor @KalpanaFitz discuss the lack of financial literacy, how to get Brits #investing, and his charity @richmondproj.

How many fireworks do you think went off last night?
The biggest UK displays set off up to 30,000 fireworks in a single night.
That’s around 1 every second for 8 hours straight...
