The report today from Alan Milburn highlights the huge challenges facing young people… over 1 million classified as not in education, training or employment.
More worryingly the report flags young people are increasingly disconnected from society.
I’m not a politician but, @riofoundation has been working to support young people to develop the skills, networks and connections to help them back in to employment or education for a number of years.
This process takes time & we know that in order to get young people to that place where they can progress and achieve - we need to invest much further ‘upstream’ to bring them on a journey of confidence, aspiration and achievement.
We have worked extensively with a range of companies to invest in young people across the UK to offer solutions and connections to build meaningful careers and we continue to work with partners in all sectors to share our learning, capacity build organisations to engage with young people and employers on this journey to unlock opportunities.
I welcome this report that shines a spotlight on an issue we have been addressing for over 10 years, and I truly hope that we as a society can can come together to get our our young people learning and building a better future.
@riofoundation is ready to work with partners who share our passion to help young people achieve that goal!
An excellent listen with our ambassador @joelbeya on the @INVSBLMENTORS podcast, as he discusses his journey so far, breaking into the digital football media scene, while sharing lots of great knowledge and advice.

Two legends. One powerful mission.
At the @OneYoungWorld Summit, @rioferdy5 & @Beast_TM sat down to discuss something bigger than sport: how brands, businesses & foundations can collaborate to empower young people to become the leaders of tomorrow.

A big thank you to the team at @TEDxManchester for creating such a welcoming and inspiring opportunity for our volunteers and our funders @FindelEducation for helping us to #PowerPotential.
It was great to attend the @TEDxManchester event with a group of RFF volunteers.
During the day, the young people had exposure to a working environment, helping to build their confidence, develop their communication skills, & gain insight into careers within events and media.
We launched our new website on international day of social justice

A Film by Young People, for Young People 📹
As part of a community initiative, young people from Greater Manchester took part in weekly sessions where they learned how to plan, film, and produce video content to help promote the Water Adventure Centre, a local youth centre.
Alongside gaining real hands-on experience in filming and production, the young people also completed a Level 1 in Self-Confidence, helping them grow core skills in communication, collaboration, and teamwork - all valuable skills for future career opportunities.
In 2026, we look forward to creating deeper collaborations with both new and long-standing partners, remaining steadfast in our belief that true collaboration doesn’t just fund change, it creates it.
