Big Chicken: A Fast Food Conspiracy has landed on @NetflixUK , exposing the hidden costs of our obsession with cheap chicken.

Here in the UK, our rivers are already paying the price.

Every year, more than 1 BILLION chickens are reared in the UK, producing 3.5 million tonnes of manure. In many areas, there's already more waste than the land can safely absorb. When rain washes this pollution into rivers, it fuels toxic algal blooms, kills wildlife and damages precious habitats.

It's not your local farmer. It's a powerful industrial system producing more than 1 BILLION chickens in the UK every year.

Together, those birds generate an estimated 3.5 million tonnes of manure annually – and too often, our rivers are left to deal with the consequences.

🚨 Water crisis? Depends who you are.

Southern England is in drought. Yet reports claim a US billionaire is trucking up to 13,000 gallons of water a day to his Wiltshire estate - despite a ban on tankers filling up from nearby mains.

The estate sits within the Environment Agency's southern England drought area, where rivers are under growing pressure after one of the driest summers on record.

Britain's water system has one rule for the public. Another for the powerful.

Last week, River Action revealed that Britain still has more than 14,000 commercial abstraction licences, allowing businesses to take up to 43 TRILLION litres of water every year. Meanwhile, water companies continue to lose nearly two billion litres of treated drinking water every day through leaking pipes.

It's time to stop asking the public to pay the price for a broken water system - and start fixing it.

We need a Government with a credible National Water Resilience Plan: fix leaking infrastructure, restore rivers and wetlands, reform outdated abstraction licences, and manage water like the precious resource it is - not wait until the next drought to act.

Thames Water's CEO says sewage pollution is inevitable and the targets are "not realistic."

No, Chris. What's unrealistic is expecting the public to keep accepting excuse after excuse while our rivers are treated as collateral damage by a failed, debt-ridden, profit-first model.

If Thames Water genuinely believes it cannot meet its legal and environmental obligations, then it has made the strongest case yet for taking the company out of private hands.

Put Thames Water into Special Administration. Rebuild it as a public utility that serves customers, rivers and the public - not private financiers.

Enough excuses. Enough deflection. The system has failed. It's time to replace it.

🚨 RIVER ACTION INVESTIGATION: The hidden water scandal behind Britain's hosepipe bans.

Millions of households are being told to use less water. But our investigation reveals a much bigger story.

While we face hosepipe bans...

⚠️ More than 14,000 commercial licences permit up to 43 TRILLION litres of water to be abstracted every year - enough to fill Lake Windermere 144 times.

⚠️ Around 435 golf courses alone hold licences permitting up to 8.8 BILLION litres a year - enough to fill 3,520 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

⚠️ The UK's 500 data centres already use an estimated 6.6 MILLION litres of water every day for cooling - and demand is only set to grow.

⚠️Meanwhile, the eight water companies imposing hosepipe bans lose nearly 1.5 BILLION litres of treated drinking water every day through leaks before it even reaches customers.

Let's be clear: everyone has a role to play in using water wisely. But households cannot be expected to shoulder the burden of a crisis created by decades of political failure, weak regulation and chronic underinvestment.

Water companies have known for years that climate change means hotter, drier summers. Instead of preparing, they allowed infrastructure to crumble, failed to fix leaking pipes, and carried on extracting vast amounts of water from our rivers.

Meanwhile, BILLIONS have flowed to shareholders and executive pay. 💷 📈

This isn't bad luck. It's the result of a broken system that rewards failure instead of resilience.
