Gan Jing干静, Hangzhou's very first licensed individual business owner after China's Reform and Opening Up. Holding the city's "Individual Business License No. 001," she started out in 1982 taking photos for tourists by the iconic West Lake.
Her journey didn't stop at West Lake. In 1984, she married the Hong Kong distributor for Kodak and later relocated to Singapore. Today, she’s back in the mainland running a successful beauty salon chain, with branches spanning Shanghai, Shenyang, Harbin, and Guangzhou.
