Hot, dry, and windy conditions are expected again today. This will lead to critical fire weather conditions across much of the higher terrain. #COwx

Due to very high fire danger, the extended weather forecast, and current fire activity in the State of Colorado, Stage 2 Fire Restrictions are now in effect within Rocky Mountain National Park.

When Stage 2 Fire Restrictions are in effect, this means that all campfires, including charcoal briquette fires are not permitted anywhere within Rocky Mountain National Park.

This ban is effective beginning today, June 29, and will remain in effect until further notice.

Spring road maintenance operations are now underway on Old Fall River Road in #RMNP.

The road is closed to all uses (including hikers, people walking dogs on leash, and cyclists) Tuesdays through Fridays during the hours of 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This closure is expected to remain in place through the month of June. The road normally opens to vehicles in late June to early July.

All users must adhere to posted closure signs. Violators will be cited. Parking in front of the access gate to Old Fall River Road is prohibited. Any vehicles that block road access will be towed and cited. https://t.co/AObJhpJxLq

Trail Ridge Store, located next to Alpine Visitor Center, is open for the season.

All facilities in #RMNP along Trail Ridge Road are open for the season.

Alpine Visitor Center is now open for the 2026 summer season. Located in #RMNP along Trail Ridge Road at the top of Fall River Pass, the visitor center is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather and conditions permitting. Temporary closures are possible, based on weather conditions.

Trail Ridge Road in #RMNP is now open to Rainbow Curve on the east side of the park and to Milner Pass on the west side of the park. It is unknown when Trail Ridge Road will open to through travel.

Recent spring snowstorms this week brought more snow to high elevation areas of Rocky Mountain National Park and additional snow is in the forecast.

Based on current conditions, it is unknown when Trail Ridge Road will open to vehicles for through travel.

Trail Ridge Road is currently closed at Many Parks Curve on the east side of the park and at Colorado River Trailhead on the west side of the park.

Keep an eye on the #RMNP webpage and official social media accounts for updates. Due to an unexpected system outage, Trail Ridge Road recorded status line is currently offline.

Yesterday's spring snowstorm brought more snow to high elevation areas of #RMNP. This morning, there was over a foot of new snow on the ground at Rainbow Curve and snow is still falling. More snow is in the extended forecast over the next several days.

We are grateful for the additional moisture brought by this spring snowstorm.

Based on current conditions, along with incoming weather and wind in the extended forecast for high elevation areas of RMNP, it is unknown when Trail Ridge Road will open to vehicles for through travel.

Trail Ridge Road is currently closed at Many Parks Curve on the east side of the park and at Colorado River Trailhead on the west side of the park. Keep an eye on the RMNP webpage and official social media accounts for updates.

Vehicle Traction Law is no longer in effect in #RMNP. There could be icy patches on roads. AWD and 4WD is recommended.

Expect snow on all trails inside the park.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the Park Range and northern foothills. The Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisories are still in effect until 9 PM this evening. Snow will create slick roads and hazardous mountain travel conditions today! #COwx

It's May 18 and winter is back in #RMNP. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through 9 p.m. tonight. Snow is sticking to the roads and Vehicle Traction Law is in effect inside RMNP.

All vehicles (including 4-Wheel Drive, All-Wheel Drive, and 2-Wheel Drive) must have properly rated tires (Mud and Snow, Mountain and Snow or All-Weather Tires) with a minimum of 3/16" tread.

If you have improperly rated tires on your vehicle, then you must use an approved traction control device. These may include snow chains, cables, tire/snow socks, or studded tires.

Wet, winter weather is back in #RMNP. This evening, be prepared for thunderstorms and rain. In areas above 9,000 feet, expect a rain/snow mix that will turn to snow as temperatures drop.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect beginning tonight through tomorrow evening on Monday, May 18. Expect wind gusts up to 25 mph and fresh snow at Bear Lake.

Snowfall returns tonight through early Tuesday with the greatest impacts for locations above 9000 feet, where 5 to 14 inches of snowfall are expected. Slick roads and hazardous travel can be expected on Monday for these locations.
