1. It's hard to imagine anyone handling anything worse than Ken Martin handled the DNC autopsy. It was a disaster of his own making, and it's sufficient evidence that he is not the right person to lead the DNC at this time.
@CMONEYMAKER@WSOP Sorry to hear this. Now that you’re out, consider using your platform to sound the alarm on bill pending in Congress, (through Senate, may pass US House any hour) which would wreck US poker scene? Tweet about it/ ask folks to call their congressperson? @DougPolkVids has deets.
Hey @themouthmatusow -check your 4th grade civics textbook - head of the IRS is part of the “executive branch,” & executes laws made by the “legislative branch.” If this passes, hoping your IRS pal saves you is like a fish drawing dead on the turn still hoping to hit his outs.
Hi @LakewoodCOgov Ward 3! I’m training for the Colfax Half Marathon next month. If weather cooperates tomorrow (Sunday) morning, I’ll run to all of my favorite Ward 3 parks, post updates, and share my final route map and time!
Follow along with me tmrw :) 😀🏃♂️🏞️
Revealed preferences theory suggests that Wall Street executives value their ability to call their subordinates gay at approximately 8 trillion dollars
This is profoundly true.
This is why CEEMI is trying to unlock state earnings outcomes data for more workforce training and postsecondary options - so learners (and funders and policy makers) can make better choices, informed by what works!

The prevailing wisdom even a decade ago was that a 4-year college degree was both a necessary and sufficient condition for economic mobility. Both have been proven false.
Every student should have every pathway available & have real transparency about those outcomes by provider.
This week started with administration officials refusing to acknowledge that Russia started the war in Ukraine. It ends with a tense, shocking conversation in the Oval Office and whispers from the White House that they may try to end all U.S. support for Ukraine. I know foreign policy is not for the faint of heart, but right now, I am sick to my stomach as the administration appears to be walking away from our allies and embracing Putin, a threat to democracy and U.S. values around the world.
I wrote an Op-Ed in @denverwestword today, with thoughts on the housing/open space ordinance @LakewoodCOgov city council will debate Monday night.

I called @repgabeevans at (202) 225-5625. His staff says Trump federal funding freeze won’t affect “U.S. taxpayers,” - laughable if not so serious. He’s gaslighting us, blaming “fear-based language you’re hearing from the left.” Call him and give him a piece of your mind.
The Trump Administration needs to reverse this reckless and shortsighted decision immediately. It will wreak havoc on Colorado police, and fire departments, schools, and hospitals that depend on federal grants.
If your organization is affected, we want to hear from you. Please email our office at: [email protected].
A massively overdue bipartisan reauthorization of federal workforce development system (WIOA), known as A Stronger Workforce for America (ASWA) also out
6 bipartisan policies taken out of the spending bill after Musk torched it --
(My understanding, per aides, is these are also out of what's about to be voted on)
1. Provision aimed at ensuring food stamps are replenished for Americans whose benefits are stolen. Possibly as many as 300K affected, per CBPP
2. A series of changes to the operations of pharmacy benefit managers — middlemen in the medicine business that negotiate drug prices with pharmaceutical companies. (EG attempt to end “spread pricing,” where PBMs charge a health plan more for a drug than what they pay to the pharmacies that dispense it.)
3. Pay hikes for members of Congress -- 4% or so increases
4. Transferring control of the land in Washington, D.C., where RFK Stadium sits to the District. (No new funds here)
5. Cruz/Klobuchar bill aimed at cracking down on revenge porn/deepfakes
6. New and expanded restrictions on U.S. investments in China
@waitbutwhy PS - I genuinely hope the answer is yes - as someone who deeply admired and loved your wonderful long posts from the 2013 - 2016 era of Wait But Why
@waitbutwhy And while we’re at it - I’m also curious. Can you state here categorically that Elon Musk has never paid you anything, directly or indirectly through affiliates/channels?
Dems have the Senate majority for the next 60-plus days. Use it! Not just to confirm judges. Hold your own pre-confirmation hearings. Foreign Relations on Tulsi Gabbards ties to Russia. Intel Committee onJohn Ratliffe's misconduct on intelligence in Trump's first term. 1/
I understand why Senate Republicans are surprised and upset about Gaetz. When they all supported Trump, they had every reason to believe they’d get stability, competence, and measured, thoughtful, reasonable choices.
That was a cataclysm. Electoral map wipeout. Senate D practical ceiling is now 52 seats. R's is 62.
Time to rebuild the left.
We are out of touch with the crisis of meaning/purpose fueling MAGA. We refuse to pick big fights. Our tent is too small.
