@RogerHallamCS21 Let’s Shake it Up. Join us with a door knocking campaign building an alternative political system which utilises people's assemblies. https://t.co/d6HCXwTpPX
Guardian watch: Classism at the Guardian.
Marina Elizabeth Catherine Dudley-Williams also known as Marina Hyde, daughter of Sir Alastair Edgcumbe James Dunley-William, 2nd Baronet (just for starters), rightly criticises the sexism of candidate the plumber Rob Keynon. She then goes on to say that he:
"will no doubt be back on his plumbing rounds next week. So, Makerfield ladies, make sure your husband’s home to be consulted as to whether you really want your sink unblocked. It’ll honestly be cheaper to replace it."
Ha ha ha! Get back to being peasants you underlings!
She might want to check out how many plumbers are in parliament compared with the offspring of aristocrats.
And why working class people vote for the far right when elitist "progressives" are not only so patronising to them but don't even notice.

When do you know we've hit the beginning of the end?
"Madrid screening of Spain v Saudi Arabia cancelled due to heat
The public screening of Spain’s World Cup match against Saudi Arabia in Madrid on Sunday has been cancelled because of extreme heat forecast for the Spanish capital, officials said."

In 2015 young people flooded into Labour believing things could change. Within two years they were gone, used and abandoned. Nothing has changed. Nothing will — not from within.

Reform could win power within two years, and London's migrant communities will be the first target. Look at ICE under the far-right US.
So, join Shake It Up for talks, workshops and networking to build assemblies and campaigns that keep our boroughs safe.

The Caribbean didn't cause this. The Global North did. My book with Roger Hallam is about the legal and moral case for making the guilty pay — in court and in the streets. https://t.co/uYMccNBPrO
Next year the world will most likely hit 1.7°C above pre-industrial temperatures. Runaway climate collapse is effectively locked in. Neo-liberal regimes have zero chance of surviving the social and political fallout. The centre will not hold.

Breaking News!
y-axis alert!
Nino 3.4 sea surface temperatures are now more than 3 standard deviations above the 1991-2020 mean, forcing an extension of the y-axis up to 3.5σ.
And that line way at the bottom? That's 1988.
There is not a chance in fucking hell that the Labour Party can respond to the objective conditions of the present historical moment, for the following structural reasons:

We are still pre-solstice and millions of people across Europe are about to endure another brutal heatwave. Sadly, this is just the beginning of what could potentially become one of the worst heatwaves in modern history for this region.
What is the first rule of neo-liberal journalism? Talk about the crime, but never mention the criminal.
The headlines say the disaster is "driven by the burning of fossil fuels"—but who is actually doing the driving? Rest assured, that question will be ignored until our children are dealing with 3 million deaths in a single five-day heatwave in the 2030s.
A recent paper in Frontiers in Environmental Health confirms that such a heatwave is linked to nearly 30,000 extra deaths. These events are becoming more frequent, longer, and more intense as climate change, fuelled by those same fossil fuel giants, pushes global temperatures higher.
Stop hiding behind passive voice. Name the criminals.
They've already written the obituary. A press release sitting in a folder, waiting for the day Thwaites finally goes.
The shelf that held back a glacier the size of Britain is shattering.
We are watching something that cannot be undone.

Burnham wins. The crowd cheers. The planet burns.
Labour has had decades to sort this out. It hasn't. It won't.
The future is populist democratic socialism or fascist barbarism. There is no third option.

Within two years, Reform could be in government, and London's boroughs will be among the first places to feel the effects. We have already watched what happens in the US when far-right power confronts migrant communities that were not ready for it.
On Saturday 11 July, Shake It Up is bringing organisers and neighbours together at Saint Pancras Church House to start building that readiness here. The day runs from 10:30am to 4:30pm and is free to attend.
The morning talks cover the basic principles of how people are empowered and how minds actually change, with Professor Sharath Srinivasan and Dr Antoine Sander from Cambridge University, Extinction Rebellion co-founder Roger Hallam, and Sarah Stein Lubrano, author of Don't Talk About Politics.
In the afternoon, workshops look at what is already working in projects across the city, with plenty of time after to network and connect across groups. With Green Party council wins opening new possibilities, there is a real chance to link work inside councils with work in communities and build resilience in the places facing the sharpest impact.
This is the first of what we hope will be regular gatherings. The next is provisionally planned for Saturday 14th November.
Free to attend. Hope to see you there.

The British public is being lied to. At 3°C of warming, reports indicate there will be 4 billion deaths. The total murder of the Global South. Yet this is buried in an appendix!
Two things we know about AMOC:
1. In the coming years it will become more and more certain the greatest global catastrophe for humans since the last ice age is now locked in.
2. As it becomes more certain the elites and their far right foot soldiers will react with ever greater denial and make more cuts in research.

I’m dealing with chronic illness right now, which limits what I can do. So I’ve started narrating Roger Hallam’s weekly articles on climate and progressive revolution from home 🎙️
