Interesting nugget - this sets up a November showdown between Rodriguez and GOP Rep. Maria Salazar, both were longtime broadcast journalists in South Florida who have moved into politics.

Political newcomer Ryan Elijah has defeated incumbent Rep. Cory Mills in the GOP primary for district 7. Mills has been under an ethics investigation for alleged campaign finance violations and accusaitons he assaulted an ex-girlfriend.

FL State Rep. Angie Nixon wins Florida's Democratic Senate primary. Seen as a progressive insurgent, Nixon overcame a major fundraising disadvantage to beat out retired Lt. Colonel Alex Vindman.

SoFlo Rep. Maria Salazar has again won the GOP nomination for FL District 27. Salazar is an ally of President Trump but has repeatedly broken with the President on immigration in the last year. Democrats are targeting her seat as a possibe flip in November.

@WPLGLocal10 Wasserman Schultz is running to represent FL's 20th district and beat out a crowded field despite facing criticism for running in a district that has been represented by black democrats sicne the 1990's.
FL Rep. Debbie Waswerman Schultz pulled out a win in her Democratic primary in a new district after the state GOP redrew Florida's congressional map. Her win positions her for a 12th term in the House.

Maine democratic senate candidate Graham Platner says he is suspending campaign operations. The announcement comes after a woman accused Platner of raping her in 2021. In a video message, Platner again denied the allegations.
