But I agree back scratches of that severity are basically unfixable due to loss of ink on the card

And in my experience as long as cards are properly cleaned of all foreign materials you are good to go.
Most of my customers grade cards after and have no issues

I have cleaned and worked on multiple high end cards that have been successfully graded
As long as all materials are removed correctly before grading you are good to go 👍

But yes if you for any reason get an altered tag cleaned or not most likely won’t happen to the same card twice

But I have seen cards straight from a booster box get tagged altered
to be completely honest
Cleaned or not could still
Get the dreaded altered tag
