Twelve years ago today, Corporal Nathan Cirillo was killed while standing sentry at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Several others were injured.
Two days earlier, in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Québec, Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent was killed in a separate attack.
The attacks of October 2014 left a lasting mark on our country, but they did not change who we are.

In the face of U.S. tariffs and growing global uncertainty, Canada is focused on what we can control.
Premier @fordnation and I are launching a new action plan — nearly $9 billion to protect jobs, transform our steel and auto industries, and unleash Ontario’s full potential in critical minerals.
From mine to mill to assembly line, we’re building Ontario strong: https://t.co/ncNUYHyAdg

Five arrests in connection with alleged extortion, arson, and violence targeting a B.C. business send a clear message: criminal intimidation has no place in Canada.
Thank you to the @rcmpgrcpolice investigation and partner agencies for their work. We will continue to support efforts to hold offenders accountable.

We are seeing results through a coordinated approach that brings together law enforcement, all levels of government, and community partners. The federal government to bring our partners on the table and the federal investement provided strong action.
Our government remains committed to supporting initiatives that help prevent crime, protect victims, and keep communities safe.

I had a productive meeting with the National Council of Canadian Muslims
We discussed protecting mosques & supporting our national security agencies. Recent threats against children attending Islamic schools are disgusting and unacceptable.
We will stand united against all hate
Hateful actions have no place in Canada.
As we honour Survivors, we must also reaffirm our respect for Indigenous peoples and communities, and our commitment to understanding, dignity, and reconciliation.
The cowardly act that took place at Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc yesterday is abhorrent. It has no place in this country. My thoughts are with everyone who is shaken and hurt by this disgusting display of hate.
This week, we will mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is a stark reminder of our shared responsibility to confront the devastating legacy of the residential school system and the consequences still felt today. Courageous Survivors shared the truth so that all Canadians could take up the work of reconciliation.
Honoured to join the 49th Canadian Police and Peace Officers’ Memorial.
We will always remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice to keep Canadians safe. 🇨🇦
One project. One decision. One year.
Through the Building Canada Strong Act, we are proposing a new approach to federal approvals for all projects.
Instead of multiple reviews and decisions which can take up to five years, consultations would be coordinated into one process, with a single federal decision made within one year.
That means project construction can begin faster, creating jobs and strengthening Canada’s economy.
