Rwandan peacekeepers (RWANBATT-2) serving with the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) were today awarded United Nations Service Medals in a ceremony held at Bossembele Camp, CAR. The 6th EAC Armed Forces Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) Week was officially launched today, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The event, taking place from 26 August to 1 September 2026, focuses on medical services, humanitarian assistance, and the renovation of selected health facilities.
The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) participated with a contingent of 20 medical personnel led by Brig Gen Dr Jean Chrysostome Kagimbana. The contingent joined their fellow from Burundi, Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, and the host country, Tanzania.

A delegation from the Ministry of National Defence of Mozambique, led by Maj Gen Samuel Luluva, the Director General Social Services, today, 24 August 2026, began a working visit aimed at strengthening the existing defence cooperation between Rwanda and Mozambique.
The delegation visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where they paid tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, and later toured the Campaign Against Genocide Museum.

Rwanda participated in the 36th Ordinary Policy Organs Meeting of the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF), held in Kampala, Uganda, on 14 August 2026. The meeting began on 10 August with the Experts Working Group, followed by the session of the Chiefs of Defence Staff/Chiefs of Defence Forces (CDS/CDF) on 13 August.
The Rwandan delegation was led by the Hon. Minister of Defence, Juvenal Marizamunda, accompanied by Maj Gen Vincent Nyakarundi, representing the Chief of Defence Staff, and Rt Hon. Bernard Makuza, Chairperson of the EASF Panel of Elders.

Today, 566 new soldiers formally enrolled into the Central African Armed Forces (FACA) after successfully completing six months of basic military training. An additional 104 personnel, including senior non-commissioned officers (NCOs), completed four months of career training. This evening, the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Chief of Defence Staff, Gen MK Mubarakh, received a delegation of senior officers and faculty members from the Sri Lanka Defence Services Command and Staff College at the RDF Headquarters in Kimihurura.
The delegation is concluding a two-week study tour of Rwanda aimed at gaining insights into the country's socio-economic transformation, the RDF's evolution and transformation journey, its contribution to national development, and its role in promoting regional and international peace and security.
Addressing the delegation, Gen MK Mubarakh highlighted the longstanding friendship between Rwanda and Sri Lanka and expressed appreciation for the Sri Lanka Armed Forces' valuable contribution to the professional development of the RDF through the training opportunities provided to RDF personnel at various Sri Lankan defence institutions.

Rwandan peacekeepers deployed under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), together with their colleagues from UNMISS Malakal, today provided free medical treatment to residents of Diel Payam along the shores of the White Nile in Upper Nile State during a routine river patrol.
