Lieutenant Colonel Busi Thanjekwayo, the Technology Management Services (TMS) #WomensNetwork Divisional Champion and leader of this initiative, shared the backstory of the Majola family and how what was initially intended to be an initiative to deliver groceries turned into a journey to build a house after members witnessed the familyโs heartbreaking living conditions.
The family was identified by AC Tseleng Marutla from TMS, who resided in Marikana, Soshanguve, not far from the Majola family. This marked the beginning of a journey that would change the lives of the family.
Following discussions, the TMS Womenโs Network and #MenforChange structures decided to build a house for the Majola family. Lieutenant Colonel Thanjekwayo further reflected on the challenges encountered throughout the project but emphasised that the team did not give up. Instead, they persevered, faced the challenges head on and remained committed to seeing the project through to completion.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Divisional Commissioner for Technology Management Services, Brigadier Mosoeu, who is the functionary for the day, greeted all guests and expressed the joy surrounding this special occasion.
Brigadier Mosoeu said that the division decided to assist where it could because no one deserves to live under the conditions experienced by the Majola family. She thanked the sponsors for understanding what was needed to assist the family and expressed appreciation to the community and everyone who committed their time and support to the initiative.

In honour of Nelson #MandelaMonth, todayโs 67 minutes has been transformed into a lifetime gift for the Majola family on this memorable day.
A journey that commenced nearly two years ago has finally come to fruition as preparations are underway to officially open the doors of the familyโs new home in Stinkwater, Hammanskraal.
Division Technology Management Services (TMS) members, #WomensNetwork #MenForChange members within the division, traditional leaders, major sponsors such as NEC XON Team and HL Pardal & Sons, members of the media, #SAPS members who have come to show their support and, most importantly members of the community aswell as members of the #CommunityinBlue, are also present to welcome and celebrate this special day with the family.

On Wednesday, 29 July 2026, the Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in the North West, Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo, accompanied by the Provincial Head: Operational Response Services, Brigadier Sonel Sanders; the Provincial Head: Serious and Violent Crime Investigations, Brigadier Dawie Lange; and the Provincial Community Police Board Chairperson, Mr Robert Malungane, revisited the community of Disaneng Village under the leadership of Kgosi Mogakolodi Masibi of Batlharo Boo Tokwana. The meeting was also attended by community members from Makgobistad Village, as well as the Executive Committee of the Kgomo Modimo-Wa-Gae Forum Against Stock Theft.
The purpose of the meeting was to provide feedback on SAPS interventions relating to crime concerns recently raised by the traditional leadership and members of the community. The Acting Provincial Commissioner addressed, among other issues, outstanding cases, the functioning of the local police station, stock theft, border fencing, and serious and violent crime. He outlined the SAPS intervention plan and emphasised that SAPS would continue engaging with the community and strive to earn and maintain its trust.
It was evident from the outset that stock theft remained the community's primary concern. Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo assured attendees that SAPS is in the process of implementing targeted interventions to enhance rural safety and combat stock theft, and that the impact of these measures would soon become visible. The Provincial Community Police Board Chairperson, Mr Robert Malungane, also explained the concepts of traditional policing and the Community in Blue initiative.
Community members were given an opportunity to raise questions and concerns, which included:
* The alleged non-performance of Makgobistad SAPS;
* The condition of the border fence between South Africa and Botswana;
* Allegations of SAPS members colluding with criminals; and
* Delayed police response times to complaints.
In closing, Kgosi Masibi expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the Acting Provincial Commissioner. Lieutenant Colonel Busi Thanjekwayo, the Technology Management Services (TMS) #WomensNetwork Divisional Champion and leader of this initiative, shared the backstory of the Majola family and how what was initially intended to be an initiative to deliver groceries turned into a journey to build a house after members witnessed the familyโs heartbreaking living conditions.
The family was identified by AC Tseleng Marutla from TMS, who resided in Marikana, Soshanguve, not far from the Majola family. This marked the beginning of a journey that would change the lives of the family.
Following discussions, the TMS Womenโs Network and #MenforChange structures decided to build a house for the Majola family. Lieutenant Colonel Thanjekwayo further reflected on the challenges encountered throughout the project but emphasised that the team did not give up. Instead, they persevered, faced the challenges head on and remained committed to seeing the project through to completion.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Divisional Commissioner for Technology Management Services, Brigadier Mosoeu, who is the functionary for the day, greeted all guests and expressed the joy surrounding this special occasion.
Brigadier Mosoeu said that the division decided to assist where it could because no one deserves to live under the conditions experienced by the Majola family. She thanked the sponsors for understanding what was needed to assist the family and expressed appreciation to the community and everyone who committed their time and support to the initiative.

A journey that commenced nearly two years ago has finally come to fruition as preparations are underway to officially open the doors of the familyโs new home in Stinkwater, Hammanskraal.
Division Technology Management Services (TMS) members, #WomensNetwork #MenForChange members within the division, traditional leaders, major sponsors such as NEC XON Team and HL Pardal & Sons, members of the media, #SAPS members who have come to show their support and, most importantly members of the community aswell as members of the #CommunityinBlue, are also present to welcome and celebrate this special day with the family.
Also in attendance, acting on behalf of the Divisional Commissioner for Technology Management Services, is the functionary, Brigadier Mosoeu, alongside Brigadier Seabi.
The programme officially commenced with an opening prayer by the Pastor.
During the opening and welcoming address, the Ward 13 Councillor expressed appreciation for the invitation and shared a message centred on faith and the significance of the Majola family having been chosen from among many families in need, emphasising that it can only be the work of God, SAPS members and the sponsors that allowed for this vision to come to life.
The Councillor further reflected on the meaning of the initiative during Nelson Mandela Month, emphasising that this contribution goes far beyond 67 minutes of service but it is a lifetime gift that will bring comfort, dignity and renewed hope to the Majola family.

On Wednesday, 29 July 2026, the Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in the North West, Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo, accompanied by the Provincial Head: Operational Response Services, Brigadier Sonel Sanders; the Provincial Head: Serious and Violent Crime Investigations, Brigadier Dawie Lange; and the Provincial Community Police Board Chairperson, Mr Robert Malungane, revisited the community of Disaneng Village under the leadership of Kgosi Mogakolodi Masibi of Batlharo Boo Tokwana. The meeting was also attended by community members from Makgobistad Village, as well as the Executive Committee of the Kgomo Modimo-Wa-Gae Forum Against Stock Theft.
The purpose of the meeting was to provide feedback on SAPS interventions relating to crime concerns recently raised by the traditional leadership and members of the community. The Acting Provincial Commissioner addressed, among other issues, outstanding cases, the functioning of the local police station, stock theft, border fencing, and serious and violent crime. He outlined the SAPS intervention plan and emphasised that SAPS would continue engaging with the community and strive to earn and maintain its trust.
It was evident from the outset that stock theft remained the community's primary concern. Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo assured attendees that SAPS is in the process of implementing targeted interventions to enhance rural safety and combat stock theft, and that the impact of these measures would soon become visible. The Provincial Community Police Board Chairperson, Mr Robert Malungane, also explained the concepts of traditional policing and the Community in Blue initiative.
Community members were given an opportunity to raise questions and concerns, which included:
* The alleged non-performance of Makgobistad SAPS;
* The condition of the border fence between South Africa and Botswana;
* Allegations of SAPS members colluding with criminals; and
* Delayed police response times to complaints.
In closing, Kgosi Masibi expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the Acting Provincial Commissioner. He appreciated the feedback given and added that the visit had restored hope within the community. Although he could not yet say that the fight against crime had been won, he said the community could clearly see that meaningful action was being taken by the police. NP

It was evident from the outset that stock theft remained the community's primary concern. Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo assured attendees that SAPS is in the process of implementing targeted interventions to enhance rural safety and combat stock theft, and that the impact of these measures would soon become visible. The Provincial Community Police Board Chairperson, Mr Robert Malungane, also explained the concepts of traditional policing and the Community in Blue initiative.
Community members were given an opportunity to raise questions and concerns, which included:
* The alleged non-performance of Makgobistad SAPS;
* The condition of the border fence between South Africa and Botswana;
* Allegations of SAPS members colluding with criminals; and
* Delayed police response times to complaints.
In closing, Kgosi Masibi expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the Acting Provincial Commissioner. He appreciated the feedback given and added that the visit had restored hope within the community. Today, #JMPD Community Outreach & Tracing Unit officers, in partnership with SAPS, Memeza & the Community Policing Forum (CPF) conducted a Drinking & Driving Awareness Campaign at Alexandra Mall.
The campaign focused on educating members of the public about the dangers of drinking & driving, encouraging responsible decision-making & promoting safer road user behaviour. Officers engaged with motorists & pedestrians by sharing road safety information (phamphlets), highlighting the legal consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol & encouraging the use of designated drivers or alternative transport after consuming alcohol.
Through collaborative awareness initiatives such as these, law enforcement & community stakeholders continue to strengthen road safety, reduce alcohol-related accidents & foster a culture of responsible driving.

The deceased comprise adults aged 26, 29, 52, 59 and 64 years, as well as two children aged 7 and 9 years.
The cause of the collision forms part of the ongoing police investigation.
