As of today, Senate Bill S7808A has passed both houses of the New York State Legislature and now awaits the Governor’s signature.
Today we pause to remember Sergeant Benjamin Cantor of the Detective Division, who succumbed to injuries on June 4, 1927, after being shot while attempting to arrest a robbery suspect.
Sergeant Cantor served the New York City Police Department for 17 years. His service and sacrifice are always remembered.

Today we pause to remember Sergeant Special Assignment Nathalie Brill of the Candidate Assessment Division, who passed away on June 2, 2021, from a World Trade Center-related illness.
On the 5th anniversary of her passing, we remember her 22 years of service to the NYPD and the sacrifice she made in service to our city.
