🚨NEW: Today, the FCDO have announced allocations of the UK aid budget, which reveal severe cuts across the board including to Africa and the Middle East.
Regional bilateral UK aid to Africa will decline by 56% from 2024/5, before the UK aid cuts, to 2028/29.
We are disappointed with the Government's aid spending allocation announcement, which pits development spending against defence spending. As Chair @SarahChampionMP told the Foreign Secretary, development spending is often a first form of defence.
🚨 Today the UK Government has set out further details of its aid budget cuts, the bilateral aid to Africa will be cut by almost £900 million by 2028 as part of devastating changes to Britain’s international aid spending.
