At the end of Co-production Week 2025, we want to celebrate the life and legacy of John Evans—a remarkable man, a fearless campaigner and a true pioneer. His tireless advocacy shaped the Independent Living Movement, SCIE’s co-production work, and the broader fight for equality.

John sadly passed away in January 2025, and his loss was felt deeply by everyone at the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) and Think Local Act Personal (TLAP).

The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) has today welcomed the publication of the government’s 10-Year Health Plan and its ambitions for a more preventive, digitally enabled and community-based NHS.

However, SCIE has expressed concern about the lack of clarity on how the Plan will interface with the social care system, an omission that risks undermining the Plan’s transformative goals.
