NEWS: SES has broken ground on a new satellite manufacturing facility in Kockelscheuer, Luxembourg. 🛰️🇱🇺

Set to open in 2028, the 16,000m² facility will bring advanced engineering, manufacturing and testing capabilities together to help accelerate the development and deployment of next-generation satellite systems.

The facility will support the development of our next-generation MEO network, #meoSphere, contribute to #IRIS2 program, and help strengthen Luxembourg’s growing space ecosystem.

Effective collaboration between regulators and industry is key to unlocking the future of satellite-enabled connectivity.

As part of the @iPRIS_digital programme, SES engaged with telecom regulators from eight African countries to discuss the regulatory frameworks needed to support connectivity, sovereign communications, innovation and long-term digital growth.

The exchange covered key topics including spectrum protection ahead of WRC-27, the need to differentiate between satellite and terrestrial regulations given their complementary roles, Space Situational Awareness and the long-term sustainability of the space environment.

Ten years ago, we began our MEO journey. Last week, we launched the final three O3b mPOWER satellites, completing the 13-satellite constellation and closing out a decade of building the smartest network in medium Earth orbit.

Live from #WSBW26 in Paris: Our CEO, Adel Al-Saleh, took the stage today to share his vision for the future of the satellite industry and SES's continued evolution as a space solutions company.

A key theme of his message was that what we provide customers goes far beyond capacity. Today's government, aviation, and enterprise customers need mission-focused solutions, and SES is uniquely positioned to deliver end-to-end services that support their most critical operations.

As we continue to vertically integrate our capabilities, we're expanding our focus beyond connectivity into areas such as sensing, space situational awareness, hosted payloads, direct-to-device (D2D) services, and next-generation secure communications. Combined with our multi-orbit capabilities, these solutions are helping build more resilient, secure, and flexible networks for the future.

Adel also highlighted how innovations such as meoSphere and IRIS² are advancing secure connectivity and enabling new possibilities for governments and institutions across Europe and beyond.

As part of that vision, he discussed our expanded collaboration with @elveomobile, which will strengthen Europe's direct-to-device ecosystem by combining SES's multi-orbit capabilities with Elveo's patented D2D technology.

This collaboration will help establish D2D satellite manufacturing and supply chain capabilities in Europe, supporting the development of a unique multi-orbit architecture designed to deliver reliable, sovereign, and secure connectivity for governments and institutions.
