SFI UK organised gatherings in Edinburgh, London and Leeds in solidarity with students across India who are facing police scrutiny and state repression for protesting. We continue to raise our voices for the students who have been at the forefront of this struggle ✊
Chaired by IWA (GB) President Com. Harsev Bains, the memorial featured speeches by Com. Aswathi Asok (IWA GB) and SFI (UK) Joint Secretary Com. Vishal, who emphasized that the student and youth movement is deeply rooted in remembering revolutionaries like Udham Singh.
Members of SFI (UK) and the Indian Workers' Association (GB) gathered outside HM Prison Pentonville to pay homage to Shaheed Udham Singh, at the site where he was executed on 31 July 1940.
It was moderated by Nabanita Sircar, IJA President and famous Indian journalist. Our comrades shared insights on how SFI-UK mobilised the Indian diaspora, the role of social media that helped channel our discontent with the education crisis into organised the movement.
SFI–UK Committee member comrade Gayathri and comrades Radhika and Adwitiya joined as panelists on behalf of the organisation at the IJA (Indian Journalists Association) Conversation in London for a discussion on "Youthquake 2.0: Gen Z, media and democracy's global reckoning".
