Three years ago, at 33, a doctor told me I had stage four cancer. I beat it, but I saw how broken our health care has become under the UCP.
We deserve better.
That's why I'm running in Calgary-Shaw.

The UCP and Danielle Smith are moving forward with their ill-conceived plan to move many of Alberta's most vulnerable residents from AISH to ADAP, a program that will push people even further below the poverty line.
Today, we learned that the UCP is paying foreign contractors nearly $100 million to administer this cruel and ineffective scheme.
Every time this government appears to hit rock bottom in their agenda of chaos, cuts, corruption, and cruelty, they keep digging.
Albertans deserve a better government, one that helps lift people out of poverty, not pushes them further down. Alberta’s New Democrats will be that government.

For months, Alberta’s NDP has been calling on the UCP government to remove the provincial gas tax and give Albertans real relief in the face of the soaring price of gas, thanks to the Trump war in Iran. The Premier has repeatedly minimized the affordability struggles of Albertans, claiming that saving a few bucks on a tank of gas was ‘no big deal’.
After we released our Affordability Agenda, they crafted something on the back of a napkin to give some Albertans a one-time payment of $100. No one knows how much this will cost in administration or how it’s going to work.
In fact, the average Alberta family pays over $350 a year in provincial gas taxes alone, not to mention the highest auto insurance rates in the county and soaring electricity and grocery prices.
This $100 payment is welcome but doesn’t really help most Albertans who work hard every day to feed their families and are paying more than they should at the pump.
Our plan is clear and simple, saving Albertans hundreds of dollars every year. That’s hundreds of dollars that could be going toward essentials during an affordability crisis that the UCP denies even exists.
Alberta’s New Democrats have a real plan to reduce utility rates, lower grocery prices , end nuisance fees, and protect your paycheques. Let’s keep more money in Albertans’ pockets.
While Danielle Smith spends > $100M on a referendum to try & save her political skin, she’s cutting funding to women’s shelters.

.@CalgaryChamber shared new research on #Alberta separation
The findings prove what the Alberta NDP said all along:
- 80% say talk of separation is negatively impacting Alberta's economy
- 74% see no benefit to separation
- 48% are likely to leave AB if it votes to separate
Grocery prices are spiralling out of control, putting real pressure on families across the province. We’ve got a REAL plan to bring down prices and increase fairness at the checkout:
+ Create an independent grocery watchdog to track food prices, review complaints, and report publicly to improve transparency.
+ End anti-competition grocery covenants that limit where new grocery stores and small food shops can open, increasing choice and competition.
+ Introduce shrinkflation laws that require clear labels when products shrink in size but stay the same price.

From secretive policy changes to backroom deals, Danielle Smith and the UCP has put coal industry profits ahead of protecting our water, lands, and communities.
Albertans deserve transparency, not a revolving door of industry insiders shaping policy behind closed doors. It’s time to prioritize people and the environment over corporate interests.
Now she should reverse the decision not to build the South Edmonton hospital. It is desperately needed. People are waiting far too long in Edmonton for emergency care.
Reversing this bad decision by the UCP is good news.
I’m glad that the current minister responsible is stopping some of the potentially dangerous decisions made by the UCP. This minister has stopped with the EMS rebrand and tearing apart of emergency response teams.
🎯"The question we need to ask is whether Alberta’s health care system should be redesigned to encourage greed & profiting from the long wait times in the public system because the Alberta government refuses to properly fund it."

Over 200,000 Albertans came out and signed a petition saying no coal mining on the Eastern Slopes. Now the Premier says it's too late to put the petition question to a referendum.
For months, the Premier changed the rules for the separatists. Their signatures weren't even validated. The court said their petition was unconstitutional. But the Premier gave her separatist friends their referendum anyway.
But when it comes to coal mining on the Eastern Slopes, suddenly there's all these rules. Suddenly it's too late.
This is hypocrisy.
Alberta's New Democrats have always been clear: no coal mining on the Eastern Slopes.
Happy National Indigenous Peoples Day. Today is a day for celebrating but also to remember our responsibility and obligations to each other and to Treaty.
This is a chance for all of us, Indigenous peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, to come together and recommit to building a better future together.
The Canada Health Act is clear: care is based on need, not on your ability to pay.
The UCP's healthcare scheme is breaking that fundamental promise to Albertans and creating a system where money talks louder than medical need.
The Alberta NDP will always fight for a strong public health-care system that works for everyone, regardless of what tax bracket you’re in. Albertans deserve care they can rely on, when and where they need it.
Danielle Smith and the UCP are pushing Alberta toward privatized health care, making you pay for surgeries in public hospitals for the first time.
Albertans deserve better: faster care, shorter wait times, and a strong public system we can count on. It's time for better public health care for all.
Alberta’s public health-care system is being steadily eroded by the UCP government as they barrel forward with their plans to introduce a two-tier, American-style, for-profit system here in our province. It’s not just wrong, it’s incompetent, because it will do nothing to improve services for Albertans.
Today, I sent a letter to Prime Minister Carney, calling on the Government of Canada to intervene under the Canada Health Act and protect public health care in Alberta.
