The UK government spends around £400 billion a year on goods and services. @SKellyCEO of @CirataData , former Chief Operating Officer for the UK Government, wants far more of it going to British scale-ups.

At #InvestorSummit 2026, in conversation with @Frencheconomics @PanmureLiberum , he pointed out that small businesses' share of central government spend rose from 6% to 25% between 2010 and 2015. Moving another 6% of today's spend to UK companies, he estimates, could create 50,000 to 100,000 jobs within a year or two.
