@SteveWang251@howie_hua I do the Test Talk Howie described too, but my students are in random groups every day, including test days, so they always have a table of people to talk to. (And usually not their friends.)
I’m new to Twitter, so I’m not very connected yet. I’d like to put a question out there and hope that some of the connections I made at #IDSTEM can help me to push it out to more people.
Twitter community, please tell me what you think about math without using the word math. I would like to use responses as a first-day activity for new preservice teachers. Help me share this, please.
Anyone have a cool image for a notice & wonder to kick off fractions? Looking to motivate the definition of A/B in terms of A equal parts, each 1/B of the whole (for preservice teachers in their first math content course).
I teach math content courses to future elementary and middle school math teachers, and I want to know how others use play in their classrooms to engage students and promote learning without lecturing at them. I have read several related posts by @Mathgarden, but I want more.
@TeacherWithTuba@SchnauzerProf It was the session Data Detectives: Statistics Introduction in Reverse; I made a resource sheet that I handed out, and it’s up on Abe’s spreadsheet of conference materials.
