The briefing session titled โBudget Through Childrenโs Lens: Post-Budget Analysis 2026โ2027,โ hosted by the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights under the chairpersonship of its Convenor, Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, MNA, and in collaboration with the Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO) Pakistan, concluded with a strong reaffirmation of commitment by the Parliamentarians.
The session was attended by the Convenor of the Parliamentary Taskforce on SDGs, Ms. Shaista Pervaiz, MNA; Parliamentary Secretaries Ms. Farah Naz Akbar, Ms. Kiran Imran Dar, Ms. Saba Sadiq, and Ms. Zeb Jaffar; and MNAs Ms. Asia Naz Tanoli and Ms. Kiran Haider, who collectively reiterated their commitment that the gaps identified in the Budget 2026โ27 regarding child-specific expenditures would be addressed in the next Federal Budget through enhanced and targeted allocations for child-related sectors, thereby reinforcing Pakistanโs commitment to the welfare and well-being of every child.

The Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights of the National Assembly, under the chairpersonship of its Convenor, Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, MNA, in collaboration with the Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO) Pakistan, convened a detailed briefing session featuring an insightful presentation by budget expert Mr. Amer Ejaz on the Budget 2026โ2027 through a Child Rights Lens.
The presentation enabled Members of Parliament to better understand the classification of child-specific expenditures into direct expenditure, indirect expenditure, and general public expenditure, and provided a comprehensive analysis of key sectors including the education development budget of the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, the development budget of the National Health Services, as well as provincial allocations in health, education, nutrition, WASH (water, sanitation & hygiene), and disaster/flood rehabilitation and management. The presentation also reviewed allocations under the Prime Ministerโs Special Initiatives.
