Current fiction read. Franzen's "The Corrections" was an extremely innovative novel of empathy, and while "Great American Novel" discussions in general are overwrought in my opinion, Shakespeare comparisons are apt for that book. So this book is likely to really impress.

In December 2024, Rob Field, then a top aide to Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy of New Jersey, met a woman on Bumble. Over five months of texting, dates and calls, he came to believe that the woman who identified herself as Leah Andrews might be his “forever person.”

But just over five months after they first met, surreptitiously recorded videos of their dates and calls were posted online by conservative influencer Steven Crowder. And “Leah” was not a progressive nurse. A lawsuit filed this week identifies her as a Florida woman named Alysia Gamble.

According to public records and online videos, Gamble — who is married with kids — was a former QAnon organizer.

Exciting news, though I'm hoping they build the tallest full stop. The Kingda Ka, also at Six Flags Great Adventure, which was made defunct and dismantled in 2024, was the tallest roller coaster in the world at 456ft for its entire history and would be No. 2 tallest if still operating today.

..@grahamformaine is getting a lot of grief out of the way that will never work against him again, his star is rising politically, and his detractors, who would like nothing more than to see him fail, are making a beautiful portrait of why the atrophied dem establishment is toxic. He's not a Nazi, he's not campaigning with Bernie to be seen in public with a famous Jew, he's yet to really be seen and heard at all, and what I've seen is very promising. If you're a Dem of conscience you should give him a chance and avoid the pile on like the plague it is.

It always struck me how in Italy, where some cities have amazing tap water, you always have to pay for bottled water in restaurants. And now there is a court judgment that says restaurants can legally refuse to give you tap water.
