The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors voted on Sept. 22 to move forward with several solid waste rate and fee adjustments calculated to keep services reliable, comply with state requirements and maintain a financially sustainable schedule of residential collection rates for unincorporated Sacramento County residents and facility fees at Kiefer Landfill and the North Area Recovery Station (NARS).

The Sacramento County Probation Department’s Reentry Community Partnerships (RCP) Unit will host its first Community Resource Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the Oak Park Community Center.

Sacramento County Regional Parks Rangers do much more than patrol local parks. They respond to emergencies, help visitors in distress, enforce applicable laws and ordinances, and work every day to keep patrons safe and our Sacramento County’s park welcoming.

On Aug. 19, Sacramento County Regional Parks held award ceremonies recognizing Rangers for their work in 2024 and 2025. Awards honored lifesaving efforts, outstanding service, safe driving, good conduct, military service and other contributions to the department.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying an unidentified adult male (Coroner Case 26-03633).

On Sept. 13, 2026, an unidentified male was found in the American River by two passing individuals. There were no signs of trauma. The decedent was wearing clothing consistent with active gear. Fingerprints yielded zero results. No identifying documents were located.

Sacramento County has responded to the 2025-26 Sacramento County Grand Jury report on foster youth, outlining areas where it agrees with the Grand Jury and others where it disagrees with its findings and recommendations. On Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, Sacramento County’s Department of Child, Family, and Adult Services (DCFAS) presented its response to the Board of Supervisors.
