Yesterday evening, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (SAFE) Task Force Team conducted a compliance check of registered sex offender, Lloyd Edwards. Edwards was an active parolee and a registered sex offender in the County of Sacramento, after having been convicted for rapes in Chico in 2000, where he was sentenced to three life sentences, plus 51 years.
SAFE detectives arrived at his residence and detained him. He was found living with an adult female and her 5-year-old child. A search of his residence revealed multiple substances in violation of Edwards’ parole conditions. SAFE detectives also located a GPS/SPY/Monitor Detector device in the back trunk of Edwards’ vehicle, likely used to evade law enforcement detection. Edwards was arrested and transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail where he was booked into custody.
In what world does this make sense to anyone? How can someone convicted of these heinous crimes and sentenced to three life sentences be free at 47-years-old, living in our community? How is this fair to his victims, who can no longer take solace in the fact their assailant is locked up?
To add insult to injury, Edwards will likely be back out jail in 5-10 days for this violation. This is not paying your debt to your society. The Board of Parole Hearings continues to operate unchecked, and needs to be held accountable to answer these questions.
***VIOLENT SEXUAL PREDATOR SENTENCED TO THREE LIFE TERMS PLUS 51 YEARS… PAROLED AND LIVING IN SACRAMENTO COUNTY***
Lloyd Clinton Edwards was sentenced to three life sentences plus 51 years for crimes committed in Chico. His original parole eligibility reportedly would not have come until he was 95. Yet California’s Board of Parole Hearings granted him parole in 2022. Today, at 47 years old, he is living in Sacramento County.
The investigative reports describe horrifying violence:
In August 2000, two young women agreed to give Edwards a ride after he claimed his vehicle had broken down. He pulled a handgun, held one woman around the neck, and forced them toward a secluded area. He left one woman beside a rural road, then sexually assaulted and raped the other at gunpoint. He stole their purses and the driver’s rings. DNA testing later matched Edwards to semen recovered from the car.
Weeks later, Edwards entered another woman’s apartment after asking to use her telephone. He forced her into a bedroom, threatened her with a razor blade, punched her in the mouth, and strangled her until she struggled to breathe during an attempted sexual assault. Before leaving, he warned her not to call police because he knew where she lived.
A separate report describes Edwards entering a college classmate’s apartment without permission while she was wearing a towel after showering. She locked herself in a bedroom and hid under a bed. He remained around the apartment for approximately 90 minutes before finally leaving.
How did a sentence of three life terms plus 51 years result in parole in just 20 years?
The Board of Parole Hearings owes the public a clear explanation. These survivors, and the community, deserve answers.

OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING ON WATT AVE
Today, September 18, 2026, at approximately 5:20 a.m., the Sheriff’s Communications Center received a report of a possible vehicle burglary in progress on the 5700 block of Hesper Way. The caller was at work when she observed an adult male on her home surveillance system who appeared to be burglarizing her husband’s vehicle. She called to alert her husband, who was at the residence, then called 911.
When the husband confronted the suspect, the suspect physically attacked him. The husband attempted to retreat into his residence, but the suspect pursued him and attacked again before he could get inside. The suspect stole the victim’s keys and fled in the victim’s vehicle.
Deputies located the stolen vehicle near Manzanita Avenue and Madison Avenue and attempted a traffic stop. The suspect refused to yield, and deputies initiated a vehicle pursuit. Deputies initially attempted a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver, but it was unsuccessful. The pursuit continued until deputies deployed a tire-deflation device and then successfully conducted a PIT maneuver on southbound Watt Ave, just south of Edison Ave
After the vehicle stopped, deputies exited their patrol vehicles and commanded the suspect to surrender. The suspect was able to restart the stolen vehicle and drove northbound in the southbound lanes. He then rapidly accelerated across the center median and drove directly toward deputies who were on foot, outside their patrol vehicles. The suspect’s actions created an immediate threat to the deputies’ lives, and two deputies fired their duty weapons at the suspect.
The vehicle came to a stop, and deputies removed the suspect without further incident. After determining he had been struck by gunfire, deputies immediately began providing medical aid. The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where his condition is listed as non-life-threatening. The carjacking victim was treatedand released from a local area hospital. No deputies were injured.
The investigation into this incident is still ongoing. It will be conducted by the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau and Professional Standards Division, which is standard practice for any officer-involved shooting that occurs in the Sheriff’s Office’s jurisdiction. An independent review of the incident will be conducted by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office. In accordance withthe Sheriff’s Office policies and procedures, the deputy involved in the shooting will be placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.

CRITICAL INCIDENT DEBRIEF VIDEO OIS On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at approximately 6:30 am, our Communications Center received a call stating a transient subject, described as an adult male, was causing a disturbance at the Starbucks located at Elkhorn Blvd. and Diablo Dr. Employees stated the suspect was behind the store counter and armed with a “kitchen knife”. Employees hid in the back room while waiting for law enforcement to arrive. When deputies arrived on scene, the suspect had already fled. Deputies canvassed the area looking for the man. Minutes later, one deputy saw a subject matching the suspect description walking on Diablo Dr. The suspect ran across the street as the deputy drove toward the location. The man ran into an open garage of a residence on the 5700 block of Diablo Drive as the deputy closed the distance to where the suspect was last seen. Inside the garage, a 63-year-old mother was getting into her vehicle when the suspect violently stabbed and cut her numerous times. Her daughter, a 26-year-old woman, heard screams and saw the suspect on top of her mother. The daughter pushed the suspect off of her mother, saving her from further attack. Unfortunately, the suspect then turned his violent attack toward the daughter. The daughter was also cut and stabbed numerous times after defending her mother. Witnessing the attack, which unfolded within seconds, the deputy immediately drove into the driveway. As the suspect continued actively stabbing the daughter, the deputy fired his handgun toward the suspect. During the officer-involved shooting, the suspect was struck. Additional deputies arrived and immediately began providing life-saving measures to the suspect and both victims. Fire personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the suspect deceased. Both female victims were transported to a local area hospital where they were listed in serious but stable condition. The suspect has been identified as Faryeshyi Allahdin. No deputies were injured during this incident. At this time, investigators believe the victims were random and had no known connection to the suspect.
After 30 years of dedicated service with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, Sergeant John Sydow was honored for his commitment, hard work, and dedication to our community.
We were proud to join Senator Shannon Grove on the Senate Floor as she presented Sergeant Sydow with a resolution recognizing his distinguished career and three decades of service.
Since 2022, Sergeant Sydow has served as the Sergeant of the Child Abuse Bureau, where he has continued to make a meaningful impact through his service to the community.
Sergeant Sydow is the kind of investigator and supervisor who stays in the fight for kids. He worked with @ShannonGroveCA, who authored historic child sex trafficking legislation, and he worked with her on reforming California’s mental health diversion law, a program that’s being taken advantage of by people who should never get a free pass, especially in cases involving children.
He also served with professional associations in hostage negotiation, tactical operations, human trafficking, sexual assault, and homicide investigations.
Thank you for three decades of honesty, integrity, and leadership. Congratulations on a career well served.
Today, on the 25th Anniversary of September 11th, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office pauses to reflect that tragic day. We remember the 2,977 lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the families who carry their loved ones' legacy forward. The pain still resonates, but so does the courage, sacrifice, and unity that defined our nation in the days that followed.
We will never forget.
