It was a privilege to brief Her Majesty Queen Máxima on the progress of India's Account Aggregator ecosystem during her visit to Delhi.
One thought from our conversation has stayed with me. Her Majesty reminded us that the real measure of success is not financial inclusion, but financial health. Inclusion is the starting point. Better outcomes for people must always be the destination.
As India's digital public infrastructure continues to evolve, this perspective is especially relevant. The true value of consent based data sharing lies not in the scale of the ecosystem, but in whether it helps individuals and businesses access the right financial products, build resilience, and improve their financial well being.
A timely reminder that technology matters only when it delivers meaningful outcomes for people. @sahamati@UNSGSA
Sahamati’s Data Unlocked FY26 report is now live, offering a cross-sectoral view of how consent-based data sharing is reshaping financial services in India.
The report reveals how the Account Aggregator ecosystem enabled over 3.7+ crore financial services across the capital markets and insurance industries in FY26.

Ahead of MSME Day, @RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra spotlighted the growing role of the Account Aggregator framework in improving access to credit.
He noted that AA has already facilitated lending worth ₹3.5 trillion during FY-26, and can help enterprises with thin credit histories be assessed on the true, current state of their business.
A strong signal for the future of consent-based, data-led MSME lending.

AI agents are set to play an important role in how consumers interact with financial data. In a consent-led ecosystem, their role must be governed with clarity, accountability, and appropriate safeguards.
Sahamati Labs has published a design paper, “A Framework for AI Agents in the Account Aggregator Ecosystem”, proposing how AI agents acting on consumer financial data can be governed within the AA ecosystem.
The framework examines four core questions:
✓ Who authorised the agent?
✓ Who is the agent?
✓ What actions did the agent perform?
✓ Did it operate within its permitted scope?
We are sharing the paper as a draft for discussion and invite perspectives from the ecosystem on how AI agents can be designed to operate securely, transparently, and in alignment with consumer consent.

A new phase begins for India's Account Aggregator ecosystem.
We are proud to announce that the @RBI has officially recognised Sahamati as the Self-Regulatory Organisation (SRO) for the Account Aggregator ecosystem, the first SRO of its kind in India, representing a cross-sectoral ecosystem spanning multiple financial regulators.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Reserve Bank of India for its vision in architecting the Account Aggregator framework and for entrusting Sahamati with the responsibility of driving responsible ecosystem growth.
This is a milestone that belongs to the entire ecosystem, each institution, partner, and believer who recognised that consent-based financial data sharing could fundamentally change how Indians access financial services.
For India's Open Finance journey, this marks a new chapter, one where innovation, regulatory alignment, and user-centric data governance move forward together, at scale.
