You are invited to attend the State of the City address at City Hall tonight at 6 p.m.
This event is open to the public and will also be live-streamed on the City of St. Louis YouTube channel.
We hope you'll join us tomorrow evening to learn more about where the City has been, where we’re at now, and where we’re going. You can join the live stream on YouTube through STLTV’s @CityofStLouisMissouri channel or directly at https://t.co/WXxnRdvhYz.
The City of St. Louis will be at Code Blue level 3 tonight, meaning more than 450 emergency shelter beds and transportation to shelter will be available.

Financial decisions should be made deliberately. I look forward to working with commissioners to understand the costs of raises, and to ensure that Board actions are sustainable and equitable for all police staff and do not force unnecessary cuts in other critical functions.
Our police officers deserve bigger paychecks, and the SLMPD needs to attract more officers.
Additional pay is a key component of a compensation package that can attract and retain a high-quality workforce. Especially for employees who do such important and dangerous work 🧵
It’s not fair to our city workforce, including our officers, to offer raises to some ranks without ensuring raises can be offered across all, including our civilian police staff who support the SLMPD in important ways, such as answering 911 calls.
600+ emergency shelter beds are available in St. Louis tonight and around the clock through Friday morning, in addition to the baseline of 400.
Call 211 to get connected to shelter and transportation.
When temperatures 🌡️ drop, community matters more than ever. PLEASE take a moment to check on your neighbors during this extreme 🥶 cold.
Your concern could be the reason someone stays safe tonight. #YourFireDepartment#STLCity#stlwx
The Street Department will continue to keep its main focus on clearing arterials, secondaries and hill routes through the night before shifting additional resources to residential streets on Tuesday.

In the grip of single-digit temperatures, a dog wandered onto the ice and suddenly found itself in a life-threatening situation. The ice gave way, leaving the dog trapped in frigid water, unable to swim to safety as the cold quickly took its toll.
Within moments, our Marine #Rescue Task Force received the call and went to work. Crews launched, navigated the frozen conditions, and reached the dog just in time, carefully pulling it from the icy water and bringing it to safety.
We’re happy to report the dog is doing well and is expected to make a full recovery. 🐾
This video shows the rescue boat arriving and the moment the dog is pulled from the frozen waters. The photos that follow show a much better sight, a survivor, safe and recovering. #YourFireDepartment #STLCity
Street Department and contractor crews continue plowing and applying ice-melting chemicals, which we expect will have a bigger effect with the sun out for several hours today, helping us melt snow and ice that plows alone can’t get 🧵

❄️Snow removal may feel routine, but it places significant stress on the heart and body, especially during freezing temperatures.
Before heading outside, take a moment to protect yourself:
• Take it slow, pace yourself and take frequent breaks.
• Push snow when possible instead of lifting
• Lift with your legs, not your back.
• Dress in layers and stay warm, but avoid overheating.
• Stay hydrated, cold weather can still lead to dehydration.
• Stop immediately if you feel chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, or unusual fatigue.
If you have a history of heart disease or are not used to strenuous activity, consider asking for help or using a snow blower.
If you or someone else experiences a medical emergency, call 911 immediately.
Stay safe and look out for one another.

THANK YOU to our Equipment Services Division for keeping our snowplows rolling!
Our fleet of 50 trucks, operating around the clock, is taking a beating. But this crew is getting them back on the road quickly.
We love seeing our departments working together to get the job done!
With about 9 inches of snow and very cold temperatures for the next several days, we know the next 24-48 hours are critical.
That's why we prepared to bring in contractors ahead of the storm, and we have now activated those contracts, roughly doubling our fleet 🧵
Street Department crews have been out plowing all night as significant snow continued to fall across our city.
Please continue to stay off the roads if possible, and give our operators the time and space they need if you must drive.
We’re in this together, #STL. Overnight, a few #SLMPD officers and a sergeant helped a stranded driver stuck in the snow. We continue to respond to numerous snow-related incidents. Please stay off the roads, if you can! #STLwx
