Florida has become a leader in protecting animals and holding accountable those who harm them. Today, we built on that record with new legislation to strengthen penalties for animal abuse and improve consumer protections for pet owners.
HB 559 gives law enforcement and local communities additional tools to crack down on animal abuse, including new felony penalties for horrific acts of animal cruelty. SB 1004 enhances legal protections for Floridians who buy and own pets and provides real accountability for businesses that violate the law.
Florida is a law-and-order state. We will not tolerate those who abuse and exploit innocent animals, and we will defend the rights of responsible pet owners.
In July 2025, the State of Florida and the federal government entered an agreement to expedite Everglades restoration and complete the EAA Reservoir by 2029. As of today, all federally managed contracts have been executed, ensuring that the funding and resources for this project will be there through completion.
We are now on track to finish this transformative project five years ahead of the original schedule. This is a major victory for America’s Everglades and a testament to the progress our joint federal and state teams have made in just nine months.
Having a fully functioning body is such an underrated privilege. Legs that work, eyes that can see, hands that can move… it’s all a blessing. Take care of it.
Should not even be a debate about 29-0 @MiamiOH_BBall as to whether they should be part of @MarchMadnessMBB if they do not win the MAC tourney -metrics used to define who should qualify as at large teams is one sided & favors MEDIOCRITY from power conferences over EXCELLENCE by mid majors .
We’re all just one diagnosis, one accident, one unexpected phone call away from a completely different life. So stay humble and never take anything for granted.
PROGRAM OF THE YEAR AWARD 🏈
Some states call it Coaching Staff of the Year.
We call it Program of the Year because true success takes alignment beyond the sidelines.
It starts with the vision of the head coach, who builds the foundation, sets the standard, and inspires everyone around him to commit to something bigger than themselves.
It takes administrators, teachers, families, and an entire community pulling in the same direction, and a staff that delivers for kids no matter the circumstances.
This award lives in the grind that never makes the highlight tape. It lives in film rooms long after the buses leave, in practices run with purpose, and in staffs that refuse to let each other or their players fall short of what they are capable of.
Congratulations to our Program of the Year recipients:

my therapist advised, "learn to calm your own storm instead of venting to others. it may feel therapeutic to let it all out, but you reinforce negative thoughts. it’s no one’s job but yours to pull yourself out of your problems. journal, meditate, exercise, and release." felt that
Mike — I am happy to oblige and am impressed with IU’s turnaround (thanks in part to a Miami kid at QB).
But I am all-in for The U.
If Indiana wins, I’ll send stone crabs and key lime pie from @joesstonecrab.
I will just drop them off in Naples or Marco Island since that’s basically Indiana south this time of year.
