My essay: For India, strategic autonomy is acquiring a new meaning. It is no longer simply the freedom to avoid choosing sides in great-power competition. Increasingly, it is the ability to withstand external coercion regardless of where it originates.
In the new strategic era, resilience is becoming the defining currency of national strength. Countries that can secure their energy, protect their supply chains, manufacture critical technologies and withstand economic or geopolitical coercion will enjoy far greater strategic freedom than those that remain dependent on vulnerable external systems. https://t.co/5wHgykDsXG
The Mecca pact could do more than months of US bombing in bringing Iran to the negotiating table. This collective shield gives Iran stronger incentives to engage in talks about reopening Hormuz, to prevent the alliance from becoming an active containment block.
Argentina backing Infantino surprises no one, infact lends credibility to charges of his favouritism towards Messi team at world cup.

I see analysis that Saudi-Turkey-Pakistan pact is anti-Iran. I think it's the opposite – Saudis have become more conciliatory towards Iran, Pak mediated US-Iran deal and Iran never attacked Turkey. Once war ends, this group will likely push to integrate Iran in global order.
Even as US court fines Meta $567M for harming child mental health, UK poll finds 85% teens will opt out of midnight social media ban. This shows govts can't fine/ban their way out, b) better to target dark features of algorithms than the entire ecosystem.

AFP reporting Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan are signing a joint defence pact today, which fundamentally rewrites regional power dynamics, signalling a hard pivot away from Western reliance.
@nilanjanaroy Curiously though, I'm not seeing any course correction or effort to regain relevance. Could mean they've accepted their role as propaganda machines and are content with it.
The UN agency said in a report that there was an 81% chance of a very strong El Nino event, with sea surface temperatures at their warmest levels since at least 1982 and potentially making it the strongest such event since 1950.

EU is paying for Ukraine war with seized Russian money – $9 billion so far. This sets a precedent that may seem like a smart move at first, but it also creates massive distrust in Western financial institutions.

Put plainly, this is a witch hunt to force Meta to tweak its algorithms to deprioritise CJP content.
1) The PM video removal was likely an automated impersonation response since he has never posted a midnight selfie video on FB before. Was Meta notified that such a video will be posted? Why not? PM can't expect to use FB like a commoner and also expect special treatment at the same time.
2) Child porn is a serious issue, but can it be said to be a Meta-specific problem?
3) The reason for CJP gaining mass reach on Insta was simply because the content resonated with the platform's core audience (GenZ).
@_oatc_ What I mean to convey is that China is catching up on semiconductors while the world is gaining ground on refining rare earths, so the new chokepoint is physcial architecture of compute.
Imran Khan, in my view the best PM of Pakistan in my lifetime, has been jailed for three years without a fair trial. This seriously dents the country's credibility as a functioning democracy, at a time when its stock is rising in the west.
