News poll: Bennett loses another seat, Eisenkot gains two more, and the gap between them is almost erased. The Zionist opposition bloc stands at 59, the coalition bloc at 51.
The Bennett–Lapid bloc, once expected to lead the opposition, is rapidly losing momentum to Gadi Eisenkot and his newly formed party. That is not surprising. Eisenkot is more closely aligned with the views of much of the opposition than Bennett, who remains firmly identified with the right. He is also a former IDF Chief of Staff whose son and nephew were killed in action fighting Hamas, and is seen as honest and trustworthy by the majority of the public (polls).
The central question, however, is whether he can compete head-to-head with Netanyahu. That is Bennett's main argument: Eisenkot cannot attract enough right-wing voters to build a winning coalition against Bibi.
