Today, I met with Johan Borgstam, the European Union Special Representative for the Great Lakes Region. We discussed the situation in the Congo and the need for dialogue among the different actors to achieve lasting peace in eastern DRC. I welcome him.
President @KagutaMuseveni and President @HassanSMohamud held talks at State House, Entebbe, during the Somali leader’s one-day working visit to Uganda.
The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations, including trade and direct access for Ugandan coffee to the Somali market.

This evening I bid farewell to the outgoing Iranian Ambassador to Uganda, H.E.Majid Saffar.

We also discussed expanding medical ties, building on existing partnerships with institutions such as the Uganda Police.
I commend him for a successful tour of duty, strengthening our mutual relations. I wish him good luck in his future assignments.
Today, I welcomed H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia. We discussed matters concerning our two countries, especially the security situation in Somalia.
Somalia will soon receive our value added coffee, which is a step in the right direction. I thank his Excellency Mohamud for this support.
Today, I thanked the people of Sheema and greater Ankole for supporting the NRM in the recent elections. I also thanked Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu for organising the thanksgiving ceremony.
On my way to Bugongi , I was happy to see Rwamuganga Swamp, which has been preserved. This is the correct line. Our wetlands are important for water and the environment, and we must protect them. My message to the people of Sheema is that our main task now is wealth creation. Leaders must mobilise our people to join the money economy. In agriculture, we must move from subsistence to commercial production. Our farmers should embrace irrigation, grow pasture and use fertilisers to increase productivity. Every household must engage in activities that generate income. That is how we defeat poverty.
President @KagutaMuseveni has urged European investors to turn Uganda’s vast economic potential into productive investments that create jobs, expand markets and drive industrialisation.
He emphasised that Uganda needs investment that delivers affordable energy, efficient transport, value addition and increased production, while highlighting opportunities in manufacturing, infrastructure, irrigation and agro-processing.
His Excellency called for stronger partnerships that combine @EUinUG capital and technology with Uganda’s abundant resources to accelerate economic transformation.
Today at Entebbe, I met Mr Nicolas Tamari, CEO of SUCAFINA Group, under which UGACOF LTD is operating locally. We discussed investment opportunities, particularly value addition to our coffee.
Last night at State House Entebbe, I met European Ambassadors and investors. I was pleased to learn that European investors are increasingly investing in Uganda, particularly in hydropower and other infrastructure projects.
I have always told our European friends that Africa is a huge market because of its rapidly growing population. This is an opportunity we must all take advantage of.
On tax incentives, I explained that our 10 year tax holiday for eligible manufacturers is meant to encourage investment, production and job creation. As our people produce and earn more, Government also collects revenue through consumer spending and income taxes.
This week, I commissioned military facilities and equipment at Kalama, Entebbe, Kalangalo and Magamaga under our defence cooperation with Russia.
I thank President Putin and the Russian people for this support, including the $53 million mechanised repair facility at Magamaga. We must not only acquire good equipment but also learn to maintain, repair and eventually manufacture it here. I have encouraged our military to embrace science and technology, including AI and automation, to strengthen our defence capabilities.
Our cooperation with Russia should help us build local capacity, protect our sovereignty and strengthen our ability to defend Uganda.
Wealth & Privilege are not the greatest inheritance but the values we pass on and the willingness to dedicate ourselves to something greater than ourselves. #Service2Uganda 🇺🇬

A strong defence requires a strong economy, well trained soldiers, investment in science and technology, and cooperation with our brother African countries. The UPDF must also protect wealth creators and help combat crime and sabotage in our communities.
I particularly thank the CDF and his commanders for fighting corruption in the army and improving the welfare of our soldiers. I am following the improvements in barracks and pay, but the fight against corruption is especially important because it directly affects the welfare of our men and women in uniform.
To the new officers, remain disciplined, stay close to the people and serve Uganda with honour.
