Your Stories Don't Define You..How you tell them will - @sarahelkins
Got a surprise this morning and quite pleased to receive mail from Helena, Montana.USA, authorgraphed by a writer who inspires me to keep writing, sharing my stories. The hard copy joi…https://t.co/PhIWnAblfS
This Saturday I’ll be speaking about the reorienting of consciousness during the time of Covid.
It’s a great honour to keynote alongside @julietrosenfeld at @WPF_Therapy 50th Anniversary Conference: Endings as Beginnings Conference https://t.co/puFDAQImz1
You've got this, @MJVacanti. Because you'll put your heart into it, and that's what makes an impact. Wish I could give you a giant hug right now! #BraveMovement
YES! You totally get it, @mywyio! It has helped me so much to realize the why behind cruel behavior toward me, that it wasn't about me at all (usually). #BraveMovement
@sarahelkins Yes!! And I see the Q5 about who they were or how they were feeling and helps frame it as to why THEY SAID it ... again refraiming it as theirs and not mine. #BraveMovement
Some day over a glass of whiskey, I'll share stories of my clients that have had great success simply by diving deeply into a few specific stories. It's like magic! (Or maybe a sledgehammer.) #BraveMovement
Yeah, @sarahelkins, I can totally grok that intellectually. But we've internalized those messages for so long...I think the hardest part is to listen deeper than the immediate doubt to what's behind it so we can address it. Easier said than done. #BraveMovement
@timbsutton What I've realized is that the negative voice inside my head is NOT my voice. It is the echo left by voices that although influential & strong were not mine. I'm working at finding MY voice & learning to listen to it - even if it starts as a whisper (plastic fork)#bravemovement
Thank you so much, @sarahelkins
for leading us on this powerful journey tonight!

Q6. I think I need to swing back to Q1 with the teachers in my life telling me to act normal...This would have become a very different string. The old signal on that was some offspring of anger. Now? I realize it was all a myth #BraveMovement
Acknowledging and celebrating when you nail something is a perfect reminder that the message was wrong, @Hdinns. Well done! Now think about another cue to remind you when that message is active! #BraveMovement
That, @timbsutton, is exactly why we need to dissect that story the 6 year old is still telling you. Why we need to find a specific incident at that time to develop context and start chipping away with a hammer instead of plastic utensils. #BraveMovement
A5: what's hard about this stuff (being grown up and all) is that the hundreds of moments that contradict the embedded messages from childhood are like trying to chip away at a boulder with a plastic fork. One event from when I was 6 years old is so much stronger #BraveMovement
Maybe straighten up, stand taller? Keep a note or card from a client hanging nearby, one that describes how I helped or inspired. Look at the blurbs and forward on my book as a reminder! https://t.co/mUt1onmthf #BraveMovement
I'm thinking of your new kayak, @sarahelkins! You loading that sucker in the back of your car and heading out and paddling on your own! #BadAss#BraveMovement
It's easier to listen to the one critic than the 100 fans because that plays into our #internalmessage that we look for evidence to support. Just listen to me, @tom_dietzler: Keep writing. You're VERY GOOD! #BraveMovement
@OnStageKimberly Q5 Every time I write something, I never know if it is any good. I hear so many of the negatives & wonder if I should press "post." Even after, I wonder if any of it was "good enough." I am not sure why I still don't have much faith in my ability to write.
#BraveMovement
Not athletic my ass, @OnStageKimberly. That's the thing: I'm not athletic if you're talking about mountain biking, soccer, or basketball. But get me on the #mountain and #hiking trails and I'm IN! #BraveMovement
A5: Last May we did the #IncaTrail, which was really hard for me (it was at high elevation and I also had a cold at the time). I really thought I was going to die on that mountain! But I made it. That was huge. #BraveMovement
I told a friend about that insecurity of being "little Sarah", and she said: "NO ONE thinks of you like that!" And she continued to share her impressions of my positive impact, way beyond my imagination. #BraveMovement
