In Ben-Hur, there is a moment of extraordinary simplicity and grace. Judah Ben-Hur (Charlton Heston), exhausted and broken in the desert, is silently offered water by Jesus. We never see Christ’s face; only his figure and presence are revealed.
Not a word is spoken, yet Judah’s expression moves almost imperceptibly from despair to hope. William Wyler’s masterful cinematography gives the encounter an unmistakable sense of the sacred, suggesting that something far greater than an act of human kindness has taken place.
It is a brief gesture, a cup of water offered to a suffering man, yet it becomes the seed of Judah’s long journey towards mercy, reconciliation and forgiveness. In its restraint, silence and humanity, it remains one of the most moving scenes in the history of cinema.
Why build more bike lanes when the Province could tell us to rip them up?
It’s happening in Ontario and my Motion to Pause Bike Lane construction is so we can avoid potentially wasting Millions of Tax Payer Dollars here in Calgary.
While a proposed arena tends to be the focus of DEED, Keith Moen, executive director of the North Saskatoon Business Association, said the biggest focus should be on a new convention centre for Saskatoon.

Eby is such a jerk.
Jimmy Pattison is one of the greatest British Columbians ever. He has likely created more jobs than anyone in BC history, and has been BC’s greatest philanthropist and booster.
Eby’s attack on a 98 year old model citizen is a gross appeal to class warfare and the politics of resentment. The NDP at its very worst.

The Pope’s Prayer intention for the month of October is to pray for those who suffer with mental illness:
“God of life, you know, the innermost depths of our hearts, the light and shadows within us, the silent wounds that sometimes no one sees.
Today we bring before you, our brothers and sisters, who struggle with challenges to their mental health, who suffer in solitude with anxiety, depression, or any other mental illness. You call them by name with tenderness, and in you, they find dignity and hope.
Forgive us for the times we have looked the other way, feeding the stigma and discrimination of persons with mental illnesses.
May your church be an open house, a safe space, where everyone has a place, a community that accompanies and never excludes, that listens without judging, and draws near without fear.
We pray to you, Lord, for those who care, professionals, family members, volunteers, men and women who, with patience and love, build bridges of understanding and comfort. Give them strength and compassion to sustain others.
Send your spirit upon us, that we may learn to welcome and integrate, care for mental health, into the life and ministry of our communities and of the whole church, and thus become a living sign of your mercy. Which never abandons and always restores.
Amen.”
It was meaningful to attend the Saskatoon Powwow on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Thank you to the organizers, dancers, drummers, volunteers and everyone who helped bring people together for such a special gathering.
On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour residential school Survivors, remember the children who never came home, and recognize the lasting impact on Indigenous families and communities.
Reconciliation means listening and working together toward a stronger future built on respect, opportunity and practical results.
