Don't miss the new article by David Kothamasi, Saskia Vermeylen & Sharma Deepika in Nature Biotechnology. It discusses the patenting of agricultural microbes and the recognition of nature's intellectual property rights to foster equitable benefit sharing
https://t.co/7ngKRwV3X2
The authors argue that novel beneficial traits in agricultural microbes represent inventive steps of nature, but the inability of patent laws to reward nonhuman inventors has led to conflicts over microbial ownership rights and presents barriers to the sharing of benefits.
@lawstrath At SCELG we are thrilled to see this article by David Kothamasi, Saskia Vermeylen and Sharma Deepika finally published in Nature Biotechnology! Congratulations to the authors for their amazing achievement!
NEW ARTICLE in this month’s Nature Biotechnology by @scelg's David Kothamasi and Saskia Vermeylen (with Sharma Deepika) on recognising nature's intellectual property rights and the patenting of agricultural microbes to foster in equitable benefit sharing. https://t.co/GwFqEu9kjx
