‘RELENTLESS’ IS NOW LIVE!

Police officers can attend multiple traumatic incidents in a single shift, moving from one call to the next with little time to process what they have experienced.
Serving officer Iain Gray reflects on the reality facing many frontline officers, highlighting the lack of immediate trauma support available following some of the most distressing incidents they attend.
When officers are routinely exposed to trauma, meaningful support cannot be an afterthought. It must be available when it is needed most.

For many officers, exposure to traumatic incidents becomes part of everyday policing but that doesn’t mean the impact disappears when the shift ends.
Mark Douglas, a serving officer with over 19 years in policing, reflects on the emotional weight officers can carry after responding to difficult and high-pressure incidents and the importance of checking in on colleagues after the job is done.
Sometimes, a conversation and the right support can make all the difference.
