Then he steps behind Jimmy Kimmel’s desk this week and spends his monologue doing the full Hollywood roast:
• Mocking Trump waving a flag at the IndyCar race in DC like the man had never held one before
• “I’ve lost 300 pounds… that means I’ve lost an entire Donald Trump”
• “Based on his approval ratings, it seems like most of the country wants to do the same thing”
• Playing clips of Trump calling people fat, then looking into the camera and calling the President of the United States a “fat pig” while cracking a dick joke
This is the same guy who, after winning Best Country Album, said he was going to make his political feelings “very clear.” He waited until he was sitting in Kimmel’s chair to finally show everyone exactly where he stands.
You don’t get to sell authenticity to country fans, take their money, pose like you’re still in the trailer park, then run to late-night TV and punch down at the man half your audience supports. That’s not comedy. That’s a calculated sell-out.
Jelly Roll just told every fan who still believed in him exactly what he thinks of them.
