This last part, "according to their danger." God will direct us "according to our danger," or according to where we should be, or away from where we shouldn't be.

Without this question, would Christ have made this statement? Even if He hadn’t have said it, it would still be true, but it was Thomas’s question that spurred the answer we now all get to read. Questions are okay. Questions are important for revelation.

The root represents the covenant that God makes with his people, the fruit. The covenant is a means to an end, not the end itself. God’s children returning to Him is what He cares about. The covenant serves that end.
