Please be advised that a power outage is currently affecting the east side of campus, and Crescent Street is closed between Fitch Street and Ella Grasso Boulevard, including access to Lot 5, due to a motor vehicle accident. The New Haven Police Department is investigating the incident.
As a result:
• New Student Orientation will proceed as planned, with some location adjustments. Employees involved in any aspect of NSO, regardless of location, should report as scheduled. Additional information will be shared with NSO staff separately.
• Buley Library will be closed for the remainder of the day.
• Academic buildings on the west side of campus will remain closed until at least noon, pending further updates. The School of Business building is open.
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates regarding the power outage, campus operations, and building access as more information becomes available.
We have been informed that power to the east side of campus is expected to be restored by approximately 3:30 p.m.
While the university remains operational, several buildings and workspaces continue to be impacted by the outage. The School of Business remains the only academic building that is fully operational.
As a reminder, New Student Orientation will continue as scheduled, and all faculty and staff supporting orientation activities should report as planned.
We appreciate your flexibility as crews continue working to restore service and will share additional updates as more information becomes available.
