Microplastics are now found in human testicles. Researchers found microplastics in all 23 human testicles and 47 dog testicles tested. Human testicles had 330 micrograms of plastic per gram of tissue, almost 3 times higher than dogs. Polyethylene and PVC (both found in food packaging) were the most common plastics.
High microplastic contamination correlated with lower sperm counts in dogs. Further research is needed to confirm effects on human sperm counts.

I want to see a plastic-free Pacific in our lifetimes. But we know plastic pollution is a global problem and it’s going to require global solutions.
For over 500 days, Australia has been pushing for a strong and binding global treaty to end plastic pollution by 2040.
We’ll keep pushing for a treaty that reduces plastic production to sustainable levels.
