SDOT crews constructed a new connection for people biking and scooting along Lander St. It helps people travel between SODO, Downtown, Georgetown, and beyond.

We reached final design for the 1st Ave NE Shared-Use Path.

The path connects James Baldwin Elementary & Northacres Park. It connects to new walking & biking facilities on NE 130th St, Sound Transit's Pinehurst Station & the new Route 77 bus.

Starting on Saturday, buses and cars merging onto Interstate 5 won’t compete for the same lane of Denny Way.

To keep traffic flowing, people driving to I-5 south from eastbound Denny Way will turn right on Boren Ave and left on Howell St instead of using Yale Ave.

@FifthCrichton Yale will be closed with planters, and a variety of new wayfinding will make it clearer for drivers to navigate via the Boren route. We will also continue to monitor and make adjustments as neeeded.

This configuration was tested when construction closed Yale Ave and a lane of Denny Way. We looked at the data after that closure and found the same number of drivers could reach the I-5 south on-ramp, while travel times on eastbound Denny Way improved by up to 15%.

By adding the new bus-only lane and giving drivers a new travel path to I-5 south, we aim to improve transit reliability and traffic flow to help keep people moving. We'll monitor bus travel times and traffic patterns after construction.
