PS - new music soon
10 years ago this day we released our LP ‘The Sea of Trees’. We had high hopes for this album. While it didn’t quite lead to increased success as a band (whatever that really means), it was artistically fulfilling and naturally captured this moment in our lives.
This got retweeted into my feed and now I need to pay it forward. I think about this post at least once a week and have saved this image to my phone multiple times. Truly an all timer.
Rewatched Severance Season 1 in prep for the new season and holy shit I cannot believe how poorly the scenes outside of Lumon are lit. Dark in a way that makes it hard to see anything that is going on. Bad bad bad for a show that is otherwise S tier for me.
Probably a hot take, but I think Sever Your Roots by The Felix Culpa is a severely underrated album and possibly the best set of songs front to back from the 2010s emo revival and adjacent bands. A true piece of art.
Unless my memory has gone bad, all of the reverb in the re-recording of 'My Birthday in Lansing' is natural and it sounds so nice.

My relationship with new music is kinda fraught these days. But I loved these five songs released this year:
1) Free Treasure - Adrianne Lenker
2) please 5 more minutes - Claire Rousay
3) Plant - Efterklang
4) It’ll All Work Out - Pedro the Lion
5) Burst - Kiasmos
“I am in such a bad mooooood. Call me the bad mood dooooooood”
- me singing this to the tune of “built this pool” by blink 182 every day for the past two months
Look, the fact that I quit emo to pursue a career as an academic and then ended up working less than a mile from the American Football House will never not be funny.
